Knowing that research reveals that reading informational texts and learning social studies vocabulary leads to success on reading tests, a great site that has many articles at a variety of grade levels is ReadWorks. You do need an account to access materials, however, it is free. The articles can be printed or assigned and students can have it read aloud. The vocabulary is included as well as questions and teaching tips. To set up an account go to www.readworks.org
Below is a sample of some of the articles that support Women's History Month. Click on the link under the photo to access.
Another helpful resource is the NEA site:

Curriculum Support for the End of Third Quarter
For many of the grade levels the focus is heritage and culture. Also, there are a variety of lessons available for these topics.

I have heard of, and been invited to, a few schools' multicultural fairs or events. If your school is having an event to celebrate cultural heritage, please let me know or send pictures to share. Just a reminder about the BookFlix featured in last month's newsletter. There are several resources and readings that support the heritage and multicultural themes.
