What's happening at Park Elementary!
Thank You!
Thank you for working with us to get our kids safely back to school every day!
Morning Arrival Procedures/Reminders
Things are running very smoothly for only 4 days of practice. Way to go!! We're able to get all cars unloaded in less than 10 minutes. We appreciate you having your kids ready to go with bags, masks and any other gear they need for the day.
Reminders:
The doors open at 8:35 a.m. We will not begin unloading cars until 8:35.
Students may not arrive before this time for safety and security reasons.
Students may not play on the playground before school. There is no supervision.
CAR LINE DROP OFF PROCEDURES:
1. Drive into the parking lot and around the loop.
2. Please pull all the way to the unloading zone or up to the car in front of you.
3. All students will exit the cars on the DRIVER'S side of the car in the unloading zone. (Do not allow students to exit the car on the passenger's side for safety reasons.)
4. Staff will be ready and waiting to help all kids get into the school and to the correct classroom.
5. Parents must remain in their vehicles.
6. Do not pass cars in the car line. Stay in a single file line until the cars in front of you move forward.
7. Follow the traffic patterns indicated on the map below.
WALKERS:
- You may walk your child to school and drop them off on the sidewalk right where the car line drops off.
MORNING BUS RIDERS:
- Buses will all arrive in the back of the school in the bus loop beginning at 8:35.
- Staff members greet each bus, releasing one bus at a time.
- Staff members walk students into the building and direct them to their classrooms.
Pick Up Procedures/Reminders
Wow - last Monday was rough but with your partnership we have gotten all of our kids loaded in 8-10 minutes the last few days.
1. Thanks for having your car sign clearly visible. If you need more, let Deb know in the office.
2. Follow the new traffic patterns and pull all the way up to the pick up zone just past the main doors.
3. Staff will call all families indicated on the signs.
4. All students will enter vehicles on the driver's side.
5. If you need to help your child buckle his/her car seat, please pull forward with the flow of traffic, park in a parking spot, and help your child buckle his/her carseat.
Thanks again for your patience. We continue to work hard to make improvements so that we can get you on your way as efficiently as possible.

Busing
The transportation office is working hard to adjust and fix issues and concerns from last week. It takes a while for them to get things running smoothly especially this year with changing enrollment between virtual and in-person.
Please contact the transportation office with any questions or concerns at (616) 669-7757.
Lunch
Hot Lunch is available everyday to all students. Menu's, Free and Reduced Information, nutrition information and lunch account info can all be found on the Jenison/Hudsonville Food Service Home page.
Please call the office at (616) 669-1970 if you have any questions.
Students will be eating lunch in the classrooms this year! Students will travel down to the cafeteria to get hot lunch or milk, if they ordered it, and then go back into the classroom to eat. Staff will be with the students while they are eating their lunches.
Medications
Please do not send medications to school with your child. Come into the office to drop off medications. Thank you!
Feeling Sick?
- For the health and safety of our students, the local public health department recommends students be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 before entering school. We ask that you complete the steps of the student screening below, prior to sending your child to school each day.
- If your child has a fever of 100.4 or higher, please do not send them to school. They must be fever free without medication for at least 24 hours.
- Important COVID-19 information from the Ottawa County Health Department can be found on this link. We will be following these protocols if there is a positive case at Park. These protocols do change frequently.
- Please note the flowchart below from the health department regarding COVID-19 symptoms.
Masks
- Masks must be tightly fitted over the nose. (Adult size gators or other baggier coverings are difficult for kids to keep on and cause them to be distracted.)
- Send an extra mask in case one gets lost or dirty.
- We have lanyards at school to help ensure no one loses his/her mask during a mask break.
Birthday Treats
We still love celebrating birthdays! You may send in birthday treats this year but we need to follow a few new "rules."
- Items must be pre-packaged
- Items must be peanut and nut free
- Students will not be able to deliver treats to other people in the building outside of their immediate classroom (i.e. no office or specials teachers).
