IEP Participation

Great Job with this!!! Please keep it up!!!

For students who participated in the IEP process, please include the statement in the Other Comments Section of the IEP:

"Suzy participated in her IEP by....(stating her strengths, talking about her transition goals, communicating a need for supports)"

Measureable Goals

  • When writing Annual Goals, please note that each of the following components must be present for a goal to be measurable:

Timeframe (date)

Skill that can be measured (skill/behavior)

 A method for collecting data (instrument/conditions)

Level of attainment to show mastery (accuracy/criteria)

A goal is not considered measurable without all of the components listed above, even if the missing components exist within the short-term objectives (STO). The goal MUST be measurable without the STO.

Measureable Goals Example

By (date) the student will (skill/behavior) with (criteria/accuracy, rate, etc.) as measured by (conditions/instrument).

By May 20, 2015, the student will read orally at least 87 words per minute when given a one-minute Grade 2 Reading Fluency Test.

New- IEP Attendance Page

  • We have been asked to make sure that the electronic version of the front (attendance) page of the IEP matches with who was at the meeting. Please uncheck the boxes in Tienet for people who were not there, and input the ones who were, if not listed on the IEP.
  • This will be useful for sending IEPs electronically and having the information be accurate.
  • You do NOT need to white out the checkboxes on the physical IEP paper

Thank you!!

Thank you to those who have been starting your IEPs with a photo/video of the student. It always helps to get the meeting started off on the right foot!

Also, thank you to those who have embraced the idea of projecting IEPs so that parents are part of the discussion and can see changes as they happen! (It also cuts down on your copy costs so you have more money for other materials!!)

We've had very favorable feedback from projecting IEPs! Please make sure you adjust the view so that participants can read the screen!

Important Information:

State Assessments:

  • K-2: Include in OTHER COMMENTS section: "If State Assessments are required at this grade level in the 2016-2017 school year, accommodations will be provided as listed on Supplemental Supports page of this IEP."

Other Comments:

  • Please be aware that the insert statement " {FirstNamer's parent(s) have given permission for Gull Lake Community Schools to apply to the College Board for accommodations." shows up exactly like this. It does not enter the student's first name. Please review your other comments section. Several have needed to be fixed.

IEP Timeliness:

  • NEW INFORMATION: A transfer document no longer grants you 30 days to conduct IEP IF the Annual or Reeval is due. It must be done by the Annual/Reeval due date or as soon as possible (within a week) if the Annual IEP date has passed.

Running IEP Meetings:

  • Please be sure to cover all sections of the IEP, including the disability area the child qualifies in and the amount of time they are educated with non-disabled peers

  • A REED is needed for adding or removing services on program and services page
  • A REED is not needed for adding or removing services on supplemental aids page - If you are adding services, document the need in the PLAAFP. If you are removing services, document current levels in plaafp to indicate discontinuation of support.

Great Work!!! Keep it up!!!

Notice Page

  • Thank you!! You all are doing a fantastic job of not puting Full Time Special Education/Full Time General Education on the notice page as options considered (unless you truly did consider those as options).
  • Great job documenting the options you truly did consider!!!

Happy Birthday! (May)
