South Maple Elementary
May 2020 Newsletter
Dear South Maple Elementary families,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. It has been some time since our amazing students were last in school and we miss them tremendously. We are so thankful and proud of our SME students, parents and staff during this trying time. It has been so heartwarming to see everyone come together with the purpose to remind each other of how much we value our school.
Parents, please continue to communicate with your child's teachers in regards to assignments and virtual platforms for distance learning. I encourage you to fill out the survey regarding online learning that has been sent out by GCS. Our teachers have been diligently working and consistently collaborating to ensure that every child is receiving enriching learning experiences. We look forward to the future, figuring it out together, and providing an education to our children.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our SME staff for temporarily transitioning from the traditional model of schooling to a virtual learning model. I am truly proud of their efforts. Once again, our staff have demonstrated their profound commitment and dedication to our SME students.
Finally, I thank you, our incredible school community, for your understanding and support during this unprecedented time. I wish you and your family good health, joy filled moments, and peace during the upcoming summer months.
Respectfully,
Therese Hansen
Principal

Welcome Incoming Fourth Graders and Parents to Gaylord Intermediate School!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As the 2019-2020 school year grows closer to an end, we are eager to welcome our new class of fourth graders. We understand that a transition to a new school can be stressful on students and parents. Due to the major disruption of the last quarter of our school year, we did not get the opportunity to transition our third grade students in the traditional fashion. Gaylord Intermediate School is committed to providing students and families with a quality learning experience. We understand that students will be nervous coming to a new school and navigating the unknown. Therefore, we have attached a virtual tour of GIS so they can begin to process and get comfortable with their new learning environment. We will continue to stay in touch as new information becomes available.
We are excited to meet our new students!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Putnam, GIS Principal
