Tefillah and Class meeting

This week we talked about our tzedakah project that supports the ACFB and we made posters with a partner to hang around the school and advertise when our food drive is and what to bring to support it! The barrels will be in the carpool lobby on Monday so please help spread the word and donate to this wonderful Mitzvah project!

What Did We Learn This Week?

Language Arts

This week we wrote a paragraph about our field trip to the Food Bank. Also, we learned about sequencing in our stories. We read a Marc Brown book and practiced sequencing it to retell the story using words like first, then, next, last. Also, we reviewed concepts we have learned in grammar with complete and incomplete sentences, joining subjects and predicates, and writing question and exclamation sentences.

Math

We had so much fun doing munchy math to culminate our place value unit. It was an idea that Ian proposed in his Mayor speech! Also, It was fun reviewing money this week. We practiced showing amounts in different ways and counted money. This was a hard concept for some, but we will continue a little next week! I will do a math tutorial on Tuesday to practice counting money if you would like your child to have extra practice! Just send me an email and I am happy to help!

Social Studies

We had so much fun this week reviewing for our test! I learned about a new website called Kahoot and created a very fun and interactive game that the kids played to review for our test. Ask your child about it! I am so pleased with everyone's test results! They are in your child's Friday folder.

Hebrew

Dear 2nd grade parents,

Rosh Hashanah ראש השנה was our main subject this past week. We sang holiday songs, learned about the symbols and customs of the חגCHAG (holiday) and learned the names of the Hebrew months.

We also started working in our new holiday booklet.

Special Thanks to Debbie Lewis....

She came to teach the kids how to make challah! It was so much fun making the dough and then getting to braid it. She taught us all how to do it and we hope you enjoy the challah that came home! The recipe is in your child's Friday folder! Thank you so much, Debbie!!
