From Apostle's Pen...

October is the month where you will see drastic changes taking place around you. From nature's shedding and shaking of toxicity in preparation for a season of rest, so will many of you find yourselves in some type of turmoil. You will feel the turbulence but don't let it shake your faith. These things must be. An uprooting of the old is taking place for the new. A shedding of toxic relationships is taking place that you can heal the way God intended. Rest in your confidence in the Lord that He is intentional in every aspect of your life. Nothing is taking Him by surprise to be still as He works His wonders among you. You are greatly beloved. You are the apple of His eye and He is not done grooming you for who you are to become. Our Heavenly Father knows precisely what He is doing and if you are His, know that it all is working out for your good. Love on the Lord this month, even in the midst of your shaking. God wants to perform wonders for you and in you. -Apostle Dr. Delisa Rodgers

Not Being Afraid to Fail

Jeremiah 8:4 – The Lord said: People of Jerusalem, when you stumble and fall, you get back up, and if you take a wrong road, you turn around and go back.

Proverbs 24:16 – The righteous may fall seven times but still get up, but the wicked will stumble into trouble.

Everyone in this world has areas in which they have failed. Whether you failed in circumstances, you failed someone else or failed within yourself, no one is excluded or perfect. I can talk about myself because I have been holding myself back. There are initiatives I won’t attempt because I feel like I can’t do it, don’t understand it, or am just plainly afraid. All of this is due to being afraid of failure. Listen, I have even overthought myself out of trying new things because I am afraid to succeed just to fail. Now it has come to the point where I am tired of missing out on things God has for me. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) - 11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” It makes me think about the people waiting on me to get in position and how they’re being delayed because of me. This reminds me of Luke 14:17-18 (NIV) - 17 At the time of the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready. 18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’ With all this being said, We must overcome the fear of failure and do that it afraid if we have to. I recall these cliché quotes, which made a lot of sense to me.

“Failure is not the opposite of success; it’s part of success.”

“A failure is not a loss. It’s a gain. You learn. You change. You grow.”

“It is better to make a thousand failures than to be too cowardly to ever undertake anything.” Clovis G. Chappell

I was on a conference call with women who are in leadership. The name of their group is WIT (Women In Technology). These women shared their stories on how they started and ended up in their positions today, and that was not being afraid of failure. The women in this group failed numerous times but learned something new from each failure, which made them grow stronger. That spoke to my spirit as I was listening and learning from these women, and now, I am willing to try new things whether I fail or not. I can say I tried, and I will be educating myself on what or what not to do next time. All I am saying is we can’t any longer hold ourselves back from the unknown. A lot of things we would not have today if folks didn’t take a chance. I do know we serve a mighty God, and he will never leave us nor forsake us. Deuteronomy 31:6 - 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” So it is time, people of God, to come up out of your comfort zone and try new things. That way, we can get in a position for God to use us to our fullest potential. Get up and keep moving!!!

October Health and Awareness Month

Big picture

October has been declared as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death among women? And 1 out of every 8 women are affected by it.

These facts are not to scare you because we serve a God that watches over our life and protects us from all harm? (Psalms 121:7)

With that being said, the best form of treatment and prevention for breast cancer is early detection. This means that breast examination is recommended once a month on the same day, in addition to yearly mammogram appointments starting at age 40.

Below you will find some steps to self-breast examination.

· Step 1: Look at your breast

-Look for any changes in shape, texture, and color of your breast. Do this by standing in the mirror with arms relaxed at your sides, bending forward, and arms raised over your head.

· Step 2: Examine each breast

-Use the three middle fingers of your opposite hands and feel for lumps (this is best done in the shower when skin is wet).

-Move your fingers in a circular motion starting at the armpit and feel down to the bra line.

-Also assess the nipple for inversion or drainage.

Please know that you should voice any changes in your breast health to your physician.

In closing, may “The Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace”. -Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV.

Matters of the Heart

God expected an animal sacrifice from Cain, but instead, he slew his brother, Abel. Whereas the blood sacrifice would have brought God glory and honor to Cain; contrariwise, it brought forth judgment, condemnation, and a life remanded to wandering. This is a hard truth, but here goes. Some wonder why it seems so hard to settle down, become established, own property, or produce sustainable fruit in any area of life. This issue is not necessarily demonic in origin, so warfare prayers won't apply here. The cause of barrenness, vagrancy, and consistent instability MAY be as a result of whose blood you spilled. Who did you slay with your tongue in your anger? Who was your scapegoat? Who did you blame for the mishaps and shortcomings in your life that were essentially YOUR fault? We are talking about matters of the heart because Cain and Abel are still among us today. God still expects that "living" sacrifice, yet some are still looking for the easy way out while expecting to receive the good Hand of the Lord in return. What is harbored in your heart WILL manifest unless you confront those matters in prayer and seek deliverance. God warned Cain... is He warning us, too?

Proverbs 4:23 - Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 - The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

Psalm 51:10 - Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

The Ministry of Giving

TLC is a church of givers with a Kingdom mindset. Each member is expected to give cheerfully and under strict obedience to the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Old Testament’s teaching of the tithe; however, we practice the New Testament’s demonstration of the tithe, whereas the Father, compelled by love and not law, gave His only begotten Son for the redemption of mankind. Love is the motivating factor in our giving. You give because you love God, are thankful for His provisions, and desire to support the work of ministry at TLC.

There are two corporate opportunities to give: during Sunday Worship and Wednesday Empowerment. You may also give anytime online via our website, tlcor.org/giving, or by text (980) 222-0126.

This pandemic has stretched many of us in our finances, but to remain steadfast in our giving is an act of faith that proves that God is, indeed, our Provider.

‘Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe’ {Numbers 18:26 KJV}

‘And brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: over which Cononiah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next’ {2 Chronicles 31:12 KJV}
