Brilliant Career Lab Director on board...
Week of December 10, 2018
Good day!
- REMINDER THAT THIS WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 12TH IS AN 11:30 AM DISMISSAL; A BAG LUNCH IS PROVIDED.
Last Thursday the Dearborn STEM Academy was buzzing with activity; youth wrestling, middle school volleyball, the Brilliant Career lab hosting students and staff working on projects, students getting extra help from staff; this was happening after 3:00 pm dismissal. At the Dearborn STEM Academy we are committed to educating the whole child, educationally and from a social and emotional lens. Please feel welcome to visit us at anytime to see the great things happening here.
We are still looking for more students in grades 8-12 for our theater program:
Acting
Singing
Dancing
Writing, editing
Set design
Sound production
Backstage crew
The new group meets at the school on Wednesdays from 2-:30 and on Fridays from 3:30-5 pm. Come join us!
Our youth wrestling program started this past week; the program is open to boys and girls and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5 pm. The program runs through March 10th.
Research is pretty clear and shows that students involved in school activities outside of the regular school day have better school attendance and improved academic performance.
Boston Public Schools-Beijing International Education Exchange Center partnership
On Monday, December 10th the Dearborn STEM Academy is hosting a group of educators from China. The Beijing International Education Exchange Center (BIEEC) has selected 14 teachers from Beijing to visit schools in Boston. They are interested in learning about education innovation in classroom teaching and learning and about student support. BIEEC would like to partner with BPS over the next several years to sponsor student and faculty exchanges.
WIN TIME
We are excited to have so many engaging and enriching classes, during the day during WIN time.
