The Sun's Energy

Sun's Energy
The main source of energy is the sun. The sun helps with the water cycle, it helps grow plants, it is the main producer. It is at the center of the solar system. The energy coming from the Sun to the Earth's surface is called solar energy. Sun energy is generated in its nucleus mainly through the thermonuclear reaction of hydrogen fusion into helium. In the form of electromagnetic waves this energy is then transmitted from the nucleus towards the surface of the Sun and further on in the surrounding space. The Sun is the Earth's local star. The sun's diameter is 1.4 million km. That is about 870,000 mi. That is about 150 times of Earth. Since the sun is REALLY big, it can fit up to 1 million Earths. The sun has several layers of gases. There is the Corona, the Chromoshpere, the Photosphere, the Core, and finally the Convention Zone. The Sun also has some sunspots. Sunspots are spots that sun has because they are cooler than the sun, but yet they are still hot. The sunspots can produce solar flares. They are really big bursts of energy from the photosphere.
