Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
April 23, 2020
Dear Parents,
The Easter season is a season of hope, joy, and new life. In the world today, how do we find that hope? How do we feel that joy? Yesterday, I had the opportunity to talk with many of the 5th and 8th grade parents as they drove up to school to pick up the next Science and Math books that their children needed. There was one theme that permeated most of these brief conversations. Even though this time is very challenging, many of our parents are enjoying the slower pace that life is now taking. We are now forced to stop and take a deep breath and pause from life. I believe that it is within this pause that we can find that Easter hope and joy.
Let us take this time to reflect on the love that is offered to us every second of every day. Jesus is with us right now, and always. Let us take the courage and strength that he gives us and look forward with hope. The resurrection of Jesus is our hope.
The following are some updates from school:
- End of Year drop off/pick up days are scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd (Pre-K -K), Thursday, June 4th (Grades 1 - 4), and Friday, June 5th (Grades 5 - 8). Teachers will be posting on their websites what items students should be returning to school.
- On the drop off day, students will receive an envelope with the following: yearbooks for those who ordered them, report cards, tuition booklets for the 2020-2021 school year, pretzel vouchers (if you purchased for the 3rd trimester, lunch vouchers (if you purchased for days we were not in school), father-daughter dance pictures, summer assignment packets, and end of year awards.
- A sign-up genius will be sent out in May so families may sign up for a time to come in on your scheduled day.
- Please continue to log into Option C to check the progress of your child. Teachers are updating grades regularly. If a grade of ¨0¨ appears, it could perhaps be that your child has not completed an assignment.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God’s Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley

Box Tops for Education - Credit for your Family
Please remember when you scan the receipt to hit the CREDIT key identified by a star icon at the bottom of the app screen. Enter your family name to give yourself credit for the Box Tops. We receive a monthly report and will continue to track scanned Box Tops by family throughout the summer. Our Box Tops contest will resume when we come back to school in the Fall.
We received over $1100.00 in cash reimbursement for this fundraiser, however the majority of that was from the paper clipped Box Tops. We hope to continue the success of the program for next year! Please consider participating by downloading the Box Tops for Education App and also encouraging your friends and family to do the same as they may also give credit to your family.
Please view the short video on tips for successful scanning: How to Scan with the Box Tops Mobile App
