The finals will be held at Crump Stadium during Alief Proud Day festivities.

Hastings High School student Javon Williams was named FOX 26's Player of the Week for the Week of October 7.

Williams is the quarterback for the varsity football team.

Alief ISD Scholar Athletes for October

Congratulations to our October Scholar Athletes: Daelin Leggett (Taylor High School Volleyball Program) and Daniel Jaramillo (Taylor High School Cross Country Program).

Alief ISD graduate Simon Silva was named finalist in the Sports Action Photo of the Year category by the National Scholastic Press Association.

His photo is considered to be one of the top 10 across the entire country. Top 5 winners will be announced at the JEA/NSPA Fall Convention in Chicago in November. Silva graduated from Hastings in 2008.

O'Donnell Middle School teacher Safraz Ali was named one of the winners of the James Patterson and Scholastic Book Clubs Giveaway.

The 2018 winners were selected from more than 127,000 entries. Ali will receive $500 and 500 Bonus Points for his classroom library.

Alexander Elementary teacher Adrian Szarowicz received the Digital Literacy Master Award from Learning.com.

This award indicates that Szarowicz’s classes were in the top 5% of usage of their digital literacy resources, bringing depth and breadth of the digital literacy curriculum to Alexander.
