TBS Parent Newsletter
January 2021
I hope you enjoyed your break from the regular routine and are ready to start 2021 with energy and excitement. I know our TBS - Tip Top Staff is ready to make this the best year, yet!
We will continue to focus on the District's Strategic Plan. Our focus continues with SEL initiatives that focus of student self-awareness. We also have participated in several philanthropic activities so far this year. We are continuing to collect plastic bags and wrapping/packing materials for the Trex Challenge. The students also decorated 500 bags for Meals on Wheels so the recipients opened happy, festive bags designed by our children. We still are collecting items for the Veterans as we Participate in Tyler O'Brien's Eagle Scout Project. Please continue to send in new, individually wrapped:

We are also moving ahead with the third grade student Inquitry learning goal. Farther down in this newsletter is an article that has been shared with the staff. We are excited to work with the indivuda students on their "passion projects".
We are continuing to build partnerships with outside organizations. We currently have links with Rartitan Headwaters and GoHunterdon. Students have also been attending virtual field trips. You have an idea for a partnership or virtual field trip, please reach out to me or your child's teacher.
Positive Self-Talk for Children - a key self-care practice
A key self-care practice is using positive self-talk. Self-talk helps us prevent and respond to stress. Practicing positive -self-talk can actually rewire our brains. Our neural pathways for finding what is positive about a situation will develop clear pathways while our negative pathways start to "fall off".
This article makes it clear that we need to be sure we are using the affirmations from Paws for Peace on a daily basis. You can say the affirmation and have the class echo you chorally. This is time well spent. Please post the Paws for Peace on your Google Classroom so the parents are certain to see it each month.
