Bulldog Bulletin
February 23, 2018
Dear Bulldog Families,
Assessment is a necessary component of the learning process, and it comes in many different formats, both formative and summative. I often explain assessment as an opportunity for students to show what they know and can do. In order for students to be ready to show what they know they must exercise some good habits. These habits will help them perform at their best each and every day.
Some key habits include:
· Get plenty of sleep (Most research shows 10-11 hrs./night at this age)
· Eat a good breakfast (Balanced and low in sugar)
· Drink plenty of water (The brain depends on proper hydration to perform optimally)
Our third and fourth grade students are about to start the first session of our statewide ISTEP+ testing this coming week. These are some great habits to keep in mind as they prepare to show what they know. Please remember that while these assessments are important, they are only one form of testing and do not tell the whole story of your child's growth and success. We want them to do their very best but at the end of the day, it does not define them or determine their future success in life.
