What is a Cake Decorator?
Cake decorating is one of the sugar arts that uses icing or frosting and other edible decorative elements to make plain cakes more visually interesting. Alternatively, cakes can be molded and sculpted to resemble three-dimensional persons, places and things.

Salary and Education Requirements
The salary ranges from 7$-14$ an hour. It also bases on where you work and the hours you do work. If you have no prior cake-decorating experience, start with local classes that teach the basics. The beginning class covers the basics, while other classes cover more advanced techniques and special skills, such as working with fondant or gum paste.
What are some skills that can be beneficial for this career?
Designing cakes require some artistic abilities. While many of the techniques for cake decorating can be taught and learned, the cake designer is required to conceptualize and craft a client's request into a design. Since a cake designer will work closely with clients, having good communication and people skills is important. You may have to deal with upset or picky customers, which will require patience and problem-solving skills. Since cakes must be baked according to a recipe, designed and completed within a short timeframe
