Attendance is Key to Student Success!
Here are some important reminders for students who are returning to school for full-time, in-person learning starting March 29:
1.) We look forward to seeing our full-time, in-person learners every day of the week. Our regular Attendance Policy will apply. Please review the Attendance Policy here - link.
2.) The hybrid learning model (a blend of on-site and remote learning) will no longer be offered. Only students enrolled in distance learning for the remainder of the year will learn remotely. Online resources will be available to students in isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19.
3.) Open communication between home and school is important! If your child is absent from school for any reason, please call the attendance office at 785-832-5400 or email lmcms.attendance@usd497.org with the reason for the absence. Please note that the Attendance Policy defines truancy as more than 3 unexcused absences in a row, 5 unexcused absences in a semester or 7 unexcused days in a year.)
4.) According to the Attendance Policy, every student is allowed up to 10 excused absences per school year. After 10 excused absences, we will request that you provide a doctor's note explaining the reason for the absence.
Thank you for your support in ensuring your student's prompt and regular attendance. We appreciate your partnership!

District Seeks Parent Rep from Each School for Educate Lawrence:
Lawrence Public Schools founded a citizen's group for legislative education and advocacy in 2012 with one parent representative from each school designated to share information with their school community. Since that time, a small core group of parents have kept Educate Lawrence active. Its mission is to educate Lawrence citizens about legislation affecting public schools and advocate for full and fair funding to educate Lawrence children. This is a non-partisan group that meets once a month during the legislative session, Jan.-May. Please share this flyer with your parent organization and Site Council chairpersons. Parents interested in serving may contact Norine Spears at NorineSpears@gmail.com. The district would like to have at least one parent representative from each school participate.
