A New School Year Has Begun!

Welcome to an exciting school year here at 21st Century Cyber Charter School. We hope you and your family had a fun and relaxing summer vacation. It is our hope that this year will be full of successful experiences for all of our students. We are looking forward to working with all of you and helping to make this a great school year.

A Note from the High School Principal, Mrs. Monica Frank

Hello students and parents of 21st Century Cyber Charter School!

We are so excited to be beginning the 2018-2019 school year! We hope this year will be the best yet. Our teachers have returned to the office and the school is active and bustling around again.

One of the great things about attending 21st Century is that school never stops and opportunities are always available! The virtual offices are available from 8:00am – 4:00pm and the evening virtual office is available Monday through Thursday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.

To make 2018-2019 your best school year yet, keep these strategies for success in mind:

  1. Know your study strategy – everyone studies differently. Some students work better in the mornings, while others who are night owls prefer to do their work after the sun has gone down.

  2. Ask for clarification – if you’re not sure what a teacher is asking for during live classes, assignments or just in general, speak up! Let them know if you have any confusion to save yourself some time and hassle.

  3. Utilize the VO (virtual offices) – our teachers are here to help you and want to support you to succeed to be the best that you can and more! They love to see students come into the virtual offices to ask for help or just to talk and be social!

Last of all, know that 21st Century Cyber Charter School stands behind and supports our students. We want only the best for our students and their families.

A Note from the Middle School Principal, Mrs. Heather Messenger

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I am very excited to welcome all new and returning students and families to the Middle School of 21st Century Cyber Charter School. We have spent all summer preparing for your return. I am certain this is going to be a great year for all of us. We have so many exciting events planned throughout the school year. We can't wait for all of them: the Back to School Picnic, Adventure Club Trips, Field Trips, Science Day...the list could go on forever! Your Academic Advisors will keep you informed about locations, dates and times. We hope to see you at some of these events!

As you begin to develop goals for a successful school year I encourage you to think about the following helpful hints:

  • Login each day and submit in your classes.

  • Meet with your Academic Advisor each week to create a schedule and set goals for the week.

  • Be respectful to your teachers and peers.

  • Every student should feel safe. This requires all students to make good choices.

  • Be your best YOU, everyday, in every way!

I am looking forward to a great year. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out at anytime. I strive to keep open communication between home and school.

A Note from the Director of Special Education, Dr. Nancy Giagnacova

Last year, I had the opportunity to attend the Council of Exceptional Children Conference. One of the main focuses of the conferences was the importance of teaching “soft skills.” The research presented at the workshop demonstrated that teaching soft skills is one of the most important things parents and teachers can do to help students succeed. In fact, according to recent research, the most common reason a person loses his or her job is because of a lack of soft skills. We want to help families guide students as they learn these necessary skills. To help this process, I will be focusing on soft skills in each newsletter.

As students return from summer vacation it can be especially difficult to be motivated to complete school work. Here are some tips:

  1. Form good habits starting the first day of school

  2. Work with your academic advisor to create a weekly schedule

  3. Keep track of your grades

  4. Check the progress bars

  5. Attend live class

  6. Go into the Virtual Office for help

  7. Get to know your academic advisor
