In early 2018, the District held two community focus group meetings and presented information to over 30 community groups seeking feedback to be used in the development of the upcoming Community Survey. In May a Community-wide survey, asking a variety of questions related to different options for future facility improvements, was sent out to every home in the District. With over 6,500 responses, the results showed that 58% of the respondents supported the District bringing forward a plan to upgrade our existing facilities. In July, after three years of examination, the Board of Education authorized a maintenance referendum in the amount of $60 million to be placed on the November 6, 2018 Ballot for the members of our school community to consider.
IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE REPORTING PROCEDURE CHANGE! ACTIVE ON MONDAY, 10/8
This information was sent to all Rose Glen Families on Friday, 9/28.
Rose Glen School will begin using this new procedure outlined in the attached letter on Monday October 8th.
As with any new system, we expect that there may be a few issues that arise along the way. If you experience any issues please report them to the contacts listed in the attached letter.
Here are a few tips that will help make your transition to the new system easier.
1) By far the easiest way to interact with the new system is by downloading the app on your phone and signing up for an account.
2) If you are not an app user and prefer to use your computer signup and login at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/
3) The phone option is still available by calling the attendance line at school.
There will be a menu there to transfer your call into the new system. You may however, want to use the direct number 1-866-490-7371. By dialing direct from a phone that is registered with the district, the system should recognize the number you are calling from and be able to quickly identify your children and allow you to confirm their absence.

Fall Conferences
Vision Screening
Your child's learning depends on his/her ability to see clearly. Young children may not know how well they should see, so it is important to check their vision. The School District of Waukesha will conduct the vision screenings. The vision screening is for children in K4, 2nd and 4th grades and students referred by their classroom teachers or parents.
Vision screening will be held for your child/ren at school on: 10-23-18.
While a vision screening is designed to identify those children who may have vision and eye problems, it does not replace a professional comprehensive eye examination. Because many aspects of vision health cannot be properly tested during the screening process, the American Optometric Association recommends that children have a comprehensive eye exam before they start school and then every two years if no risk factors are discovered. Yearly eye exams are recommended for children with known vision concerns and those who are at risk. If not treated early, vision problems may lead to:
- Loss of vision
- Learning difficulties
- Delayed sensory, motor, cognitive or social-emotional development
You will be notified about your child's results only if a follow up with an eye doctor is recommended. In this case, we strongly suggest that your child be seen by an optometrist (OD) or an ophthalmologist (MD) and that the school form be returned noting the results of the exam.
To be sure we provide the best screening possible, please encourage your child to wear his/her glasses/contacts on the screening day. If your child has a known vision problem, needs special consideration, or i for any reasons you do not want your child to be screened at school, please communicate this to the school health room assistant before the screening.
Parent volunteers will be needed to help on the day of the screening. Call the health room assistant if you are interested and available to help with this important event.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Did you know that Rose Glen has an online family directory? Have you signed up yet? Having access to this directory is a great way for you to stay connected with other school families. It also is the way that you would get contact information for your child’s classmates, including information you would need for sending out birthday invitations via email or U.S. mail. (Please remember that unless your child is inviting the entire class, party invitations may not be distributed at school.)
Another important reason you may want to be included in the directory is to give your child the opportunity to be invited to birthday parties or other gatherings with classmates, since neither the teachers nor the office staff is able to share contact information with you. Hopefully you have already signed up for the family directory. If you have not, please take a few minutes to do so.
