The latest information from South Hill Elementary Library
April focus: Spring!
Research
Grade 1 will focus on farm to table this month. I am currently reading "Two Old Potatoes and Me" by John Coy
We are all amazed that you can grow new potatoes from old ones by planting the sprouted eyes. I wouldn't be surprised to have your student asking you for old potatoes this month!
Grade 3 continues it's work with traditional literature. I'm so excited to read their adaptations of classic fairy tales in the coming weeks.
Grade 5 has stared researching Latin American countries in library. We are using Culture Grams, which is a concise, reliable, and up-to-date resource on more than 200 countries, each U.S. state, and all 13 Canadian provinces and territories. It is accessible from home, but a log in is needed. Please refer to the database brochure handed out at curriculum night or contact Mrs. Jones for information.
