Casey Fort - Elementary Reading and Writing
I am so eager to be a part of the opening of this new online school. I have been teaching in the Weld RE-4 School District since 2010. I have a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Colorado State University. I also have my master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. As an educator, I will guide your child make choices that help them do their best learning, teach them kindness and how to take care of themselves, and encourage them to do their best and keep trying, even when things get tough. I want to excite students and give them confidence as a learner. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hiking, traveling, reading, and playing with my two dogs.
Karen Lesser - Secondary Math & Science Specialist
I have a deep love of Science and Math. I have taught Middle School Math and Science for 14 years, and taught High School Biology and Anatomy for 1 year. I have an M.S. in Biology (Genetics) from UMBC and taught college labs at UMBC and UCRiverside.
I am passionate about teaching science and mathematics and the role that they play in society. I believe that everybody should learn to think critically and correctly interpret data. In that way, we can describe our observations in a way that deepens our appreciation for the world around us.
I strive to make my digital classroom a positive place to be. I want students to know that they are valued. I feel that the more a student feels comfortable asking questions in my class, the more they can take responsibility for their own learning. This makes the learning process more valuable for everyone.
