2022 Gifts for Others Program

The 2022 Gifts for Others Holiday Giving Program (GFO) has begun!

GFO is designed to support families within the Turtle Lake community who are experiencing extreme financial stress during the holiday season. GFO provides families with clothing, books, grocery gift cards and some special gift requests.

Ways to support the program:

  • Select an item from the list on the PTA GFO website. Shop and return the unwrapped gift to school or a GFO drop site. You can also have it shipped directly to a GFO site. All items must be labeled with a child number, include a gift receipt and be returned no later than December 9th.

  • Make a cash donation to the program that will be used to purchase unfulfilled gifts. This can be done with cash, check (made out to Turtle Lake PTA) or electronically through MemberHub .

  • Sponsor a child or a family - we have opportunities for Turtle Lake families or groups (scouts, community organizations, etc.) to sponsor a child or even a family. You can determine the level of involvement that suits your group. To find out more about sponsorship, please contact Katie Peatross at katie33@gmail.com

**Gift requests and more detailed information including links can be found online at http://turtlelakepta.weebly.com/gifts-for-others.html **

Any additional questions about the program, please contact Michelle Lucarelli at michelle.ervasti@gmail.com

Please contact Mr. Jachymowski at kevin.jachymowski@mvpschools.org if your family is in need of support.

DISTRICT-WIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Snow days: Five things to know

It’s been a while since we’ve experienced a weather-related school cancellation. Here are five things to remember this year:

  1. If winter weather conditions force school closures this year, there will be no instruction held on the affected day(s).
  2. Families will not receive a “We’ll be open tomorrow” message during wintery weather evenings. Always assume schools will remain in session, until you hear or see differently from Mounds View Public Schools.

  3. Within 20 minutes of a decision to close schools, families will receive text, voicemail and email messages. Make sure your contact information is current in ParentVUE. Instructions can be found here.

  4. Want your student to also receive an alert? Parents can add their student’s cell phone for emergency text alerts in ParentVUE. Here’s how.

  5. If you've blocked ANY previous text messages from us in the past, you won't receive any emergency alerts. To unblock your cell phone, contact your school's front office.

The decision to close schools is a difficult one to make, and we realize that it significantly impacts all of our families. To learn more about the criteria for school closures, visit here.
