Today I was elected the 16th president of the United States of America. To this day I am the first republican ever elected as president in the U.S. I beat three candidates southern democrat John C. Breckinridge, constitutional Union candidate John Bell, and Northern democrat Stephan Douglas a U.S. senator for Illinois.Since I have been elected Southern states have started seceding, because they think I will abolish slavery.I a Kentucky born man have became the President of the United States."This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. "Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it."

Today in fort Sumter, South Carolina Confederate troops shot upon us.At fort Sumter I had my general Robert Anderson,I also had my 9 officers,68 enlisted men,8 musicians, and 43 construction works. The fort was severely damaged, but the Confederate troops don’t care at all and keep shooting.Anderson raised the white flag, surrendering to the confederates. When a couple of my men were firing the rest of our bombs a cannon exploded killing two men. Today the Civil war has started and I hope in the end the Nation will still be united and that our enemies will become our friends."I distrust the wisdom if not the sincerity of friends who would hold my hands while my enemies stab me."

Today I President Abraham Lincoln signed the final Emancipation Proclamation that will end slavery in all rebelling states. The preliminary proclamation that I wrote was released in September of 1862,after the Union victory at the battle of Antietan in Maryland. The final Proclamation was finally released today so I could sign it.Me signing the document made the war more about abolition then preserving the union.I used vacated Congressional seats to determine which states/areas still in rebellion, as some parts of the South had already been recaptured and were under Congress supervision. My proclamation has not freed anyone yet because the rebelling states are not under Union control, but once we recapture all the southern states the slaves in them will be free."If slavery is not wrong, nothing is wrong."

Today in Appomattox,Virginia Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to my union general Ulysses S. Grant. The Civil war had finally ended and we have abolished slavery and kept the United states together. Now my goal is to welcome the south back in the United states and repair the damages in the South and in friendships that were broken. After the document was signed my army didn't take any personal belongings of the South's soldiers. Scattered wars keep happening here and there but for all practical purposes the Civil War is over. Now I tell the people of the North to nicely welcome back the Southerners, even though we have just been in a 4 year long war with them. Our nation needs to become one big family again and honor those who have died so we can be a union."Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you,And in the end you are sure to succeed."

Today only five days after the confederates surrendered, I'm going to see" Our American Cousin" with my wife Mary Todd Lincoln. This play will take place at Fords theater. While I was watching the play a man by the name John Wilkes Booth shot me in the back of the head and I instantly fell over into Mary's lap and started to bleed a lot. After I was shot Booth jumped on to the stage ans yelled "Sic simper tyrannis" which means thus always to tyrants.I was quickly rushed to a doctor, who tried to find the bullet but just made my bleeding worse. I never regained consciousness that day and left many worried. In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
