New Shout Outs
- I want to personally thank Mr. Thomas for making school such a fun learning experience. He's so down to earth and has such a big heart. He understands the importance of a student-teacher connection. I'm not only impressed with the way he teaches academics, but the way he promotes kindness and putting others first.
- Thank you to our dedicated nurses for caring for our children! Thank you for all you do!
Parent/ Teacher Conferences- Nov. 2nd and 4th
Sign-Up Genius goes live today!!!!
Because of these times, those days will be half days, with students being dismissed at 11:00AM.
Parents will have a choice of choosing in-person or remote for their conferences. Your child's teacher will send out information about signing up on Friday, October 22nd.
In-Person Conferences: Adults must wear a mask and use hand sanitizer prior to entering the room.
Halloween Celebrations
***Students are not to bring in “goodie” bags and food items for their class. Our celebrations are food-free due to the many allergies we have in the building and of course...COVID. Although goodie bags can be non-edible, EPIC provides all of our materials for students for our celebrations. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Students will be allowed to wear costumes under the following guidelines:
- Costumes should not be worn to school
- The costume must be able to be put on by themselves over their clothes.
- Costumes must be put on in the classrooms.
- Costumes must be school appropriate (no blood, weapons)
2021/2022 Yearbooks
These are the days your child will want to remember forever. Help make the year unforgettable by purchasing a Millburn Building Community yearbook.
Your kid will have a book that will be enjoyed now and 20, 30 or even 50 years from now. You also can make the yearbook extra special by purchasing namestamping and a protective plastic cover.
Buy online with credit card, debit card or PayPal at yearbookforever.com . Be sure to choose Millburn Elementary in Old Mill Creek. If you need to order from MMS, please make sure to go back to the link after you place your elementary order and choose the middle school. Order now, so your child won’t miss out when the yearbook is distributed around the end of May.
As an adult, you know how important memories become. Don’t let your child’s memories fade; make sure they get a yearbook!
Be Seen and Heard Presentation- Wednesday, November 10
Erin’s Law, House Bill 6193 was signed by Governor Pat Quinn on January 24, 2013. This law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. It is recommended that four communications a year on Erin’s Law be made available to all students.
Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author and motivational speaker, will be assisting Millburn Elementary in implementing this mandate. Mr. Pacini’s program is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The focus of his presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are:
Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches
Safety rules at home and school
Saying “NO”
Safe/Unsafe Secrets
It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her
Telling a trusted adult
Mr. Pacini will be presenting to our students on Wednesday, November 10th.
Requests to Opt-Out: If you prefer that your child opt-out of this prevention education session, please email your child’s classroom teacher.
