Dear Heritage Families

Hello Heritage Families,

We wanted to thank everyone who was able to donate to our Boosterthon Fundraiser! We surpassed our goal of $20,000 which allowed many staff members to be pied in the face.

Our final total was $22,847! Not only will this be enough for our new sound system in the gym but much, much more. Thank you again for supporting our school and PTA. The kids had so much fun at the Fun Run and will benefit from these funds in many ways!

Love,

Dr. Megan Sutton & Mrs. Jessica Hanks

Fall Parties & Rock Your School Day

It’s almost time for ROCK YOUR SCHOOL DAY!

It’s a nationwide initiative to bring student engagement to classrooms all over the world! We can’t wait to ROCK N ROLL! All students will be participating in this jammin’ day filled with lots of learning, fun and of course ENGAGEMENT!

If you’d like to add to the excitement, have your child dress in their best rocker attire!

We are looking forward to celebrating our rock stars on October 21 at our Rock Your School Parties from 9:00-10:00.

Visitor vs. Volunteer

Please take a moment to review our district volunteer and visitor approval process. Please click this link for more information. As a reminder, you may need to update your background check each year, and it can be a timely process. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to our front office team.

Parent Teacher conferences

Parent Teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 26, from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 27, from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. We will hold our conferences in person, however, if you would prefer a virtual meeting we can set that up for you as well. Please look for your teacher newsletter for more specific information! We are looking forward to sharing all of the positive things your children are doing with us here at school!

Attendance Reminders

If you know your student will not be in attendance please call the Primary office at 636-327-3846 and press 1 and the Intermediate office at 636-327-3839 and press 1. You can also send an email to the Primary office at attendance.heritagep@wsdr4.org and the Intermediate office at attendance.heritagei@wsdr4.org. Also please remember to leave your student's name, the reason for absence, the date, and the homeroom teacher's name in either the email or voicemail.

Also, students will not be released for pick up after 2:30 pm so please plan accordingly if you may need to pick your student up early from either office.

Looking for Gently Used Books

Heritage is searching for gently used children's picture or chapter books. If you have a donation, please drop them off at the main office or send with your children. Thank you!

Free Clothing!

THE WAY CHURCH is hosting a free clothing closet for families in need. Families will be able to come and pick out a few outfits for each of their kids. They have sizes birth through high school. They are gently used items and we have a great selection, including a few costumes. They will also have some craft stations for kids and fun give-a-ways too.

Crosswalk Safety

We love to see and greet our students and families who walk to school in the morning. Here are a few safety reminders to help all of our Heritage Cubs & Bears start the day in the best way possible.

  • Children should ONLY cross at the crosswalk. Please do not allow your child to cross in the middle of the street.

  • Park 3-4 car lengths down on Northview Avenue and let your child out of the car. Have them walk to the corner and we will help them safely cross at the crosswalk. You are welcome to walk them to the building as well. Parking on Blumhoff and or dropping off on Blumhoff creates a traffic jam for our families and buses.

  • Please teach your child that if no one is at the crosswalk, they need to wait. Teachers will be out there at 8:05 a.m.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our Heritage Cubs & Bears safe.

Turkey Trot

We are pleased to announce that the Turkey Trot will be open to all kids from third grade through seventh grade within the Wentzville school district. This race has been going on for nearly 30 years and has been a fun one mile race with the kids participating from all parts of the district.

There is a traveling trophy that goes to the elementary school whose top three runners in each of the boys and girls divisions has the lowest combined score by adding their places. Heritage NEEDS that trophy!

Click the link below for the application. Deadline to apply is October 3.

Breakfast & Lunch

We already have some students who have negative lunch accounts. Please ensure that you are putting money in your child's lunch account.

Heritage Primary Breakfast & Lunch Menu

Heritage Intermediate Breakfast & Lunch Menu

We encourage all families to fill out the Free & Reduced Lunch form. Not only could you qualify for a free or reduced lunch rate, but this provides our district with the information it needs to secure Title 1 funds.

We have included a PDF of the Free and Reduced Lunch Application and also have paper copies available in the office. We will also have these available at Popsicles with the Principals, Kindergarten Orientation and Meet the Teacher Night.

The application can seem confusing, so if you would like us to help you fill it out-please call our office. We would be happy to help you ensure you are getting your best lunch rate!

Birthday Treat Policy Updated

Birthdays are special to your child and we want them to enjoy this occasion. At school, each teacher can decide how to handle classroom celebrations in a way that respects the instructional time and learning needs of all the students.

You are welcome to send non-edible birthday treats into your child’s classroom to celebrate their birthday if you choose.

2022-2023 character theme

This year our Character Theme is "Heritage Grows Great Character" - this is a plant & flower theme!

We will be exposing the students to lessons and books that highlight the following characteristics: Courage, Gratitude, Forgiveness, & Compassion

The students will also have a chance to earn a Character Education shirt by displaying these characteristics at school. If your child earns a T-shirt, we encourage them to wear them on Mondays as our staff will be sporting them as well.

We can't wait to see how many students will earn their character shirts this year!

What is Helping Hands?

We are so excited to share with you our photos of our new Sharing Shed and Lending Library. Don't hesitate to reach out! We will be here to lend a hand!
