Elkton Elementary School Memo
May 10, 2021
A Note from Mrs. Palmer
Dear EES Families,
Thanks to all the families and community partners who made our teachers and staff feel special. The treats, cards, and lunch provided were very much appreciated. Our wonderful lunch last Thursday was provided by members from Evangelical Pres. Church in Elkton. Thank you.
SOL testing in grades 3-5 begins this week. The schedule is on the link below. Schedule any appointments around your child's test schedule.
Do you know anyone that has a child that could be in Kindergarten this fall? Any child that will be 5 years old by 9/30/21 is elgible. Have them call the school at 298-1511 to inquire.
With warmer weather here, I want to remind our families about the RCPS Dress Code. The link below (shared last week) list the dress code violations and the consequences for violating the policy. The policy is JFCJ. Nurse Sandy and myself visited classrooms to discuss the dress code with students.
May 21st is Ichthyosis Awareness Day. EES Student, Connor Mawyer, has this disease and his parents are hoping to inform everyone about this disease. Ichthyosis is a genetic skin disorder characterized by dry, scaling skin that may be thickened or very thin. Each year, more than 16,000 babies are born with some form of Ichthyosis. The symbol for this disease is the blue butterfly.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The link below gives you ideas to support your family at home.

I wish you well...
