Message from the desk of Scott Feldkamp
Dear VCMS Families,
It has been an exciting start to the 2021-2022 school year! It's hard to believe we've been in session for almost a month now. Much has occurred in such a short time. As we journey through this school year, our overarching theme is: New Beginnings . . . A Time to Reconnect, Recharge, and Reimagine! With that thought in mind, our VCMS teachers are hard at work teaching and providing first rate learning opportunities and experiences for all our Vipers. Our students have been busy learning and acclimating to their new schedule, classrooms, and teachers. Our VCMS football team and cheerleaders have been practicing long and hard and are off to a great start, showcasing their talents and school spirit on the field, and supporting our school. Clubs and other activities are getting underway, too. And of course, we are ever mindful of COVID and putting mitigation measures in place. All in all, August has been a terrific month!!!
I hope that you will enjoy our new and improved newsletter, The Viper Voice, which will be published monthly, and will be sent your way via a Messenger email with a link to “SMORE”, posted on the VCMS Facebook Page, or you may pick up a copy or scan the QR code in our front office. We have structured it into 5 sections or our “5 Vs – Vitals, Valiant, Values, Virtuoso, and Valor”. Each of the Vs will cover different topics and subjects all related to Vickery Creek Middle School.
- The first V – “Vitals” is defined as “Important information pertaining to VCMS”, and will include The Principal Message, Teacher of the Month, Instruction/Academics, The Counselor Corner, and a Calendar link.
- The second V – “Valiant” is defined as “Those Vipers exhibiting bravery”; this section will include our competitive athletics and clubs that compete/represent the school.
- The third V – “Values” is defined as “a principle or standard that is considered important or desirable as well as regarded in high esteem”, and will include VCMS Clubs, PBIS, Clubhouse, Media Center, and Staff Reads information.
- The fourth V – “Virtuoso” is defined as “Vipers who exhibit skills or techniques in the arts, technical abilities, or leadership”; this section will include information about Band, Chorus, Drama, Student Government/Leadership, and Technology.
- The fifth V – “Valor” is defined as “those who support the school with strength and courage” and will include our PTO and Partners in Education spotlights.
I am thrilled to be able to have such an inclusive and comprehensive newsletter that will keep you informed about everything VCMS.
I am also pleased to announce that starting in the month of September I will be more than happy to attend Homeowner Association meetings for subdivisions who reside in the Vickery Creek Middle School district. During these visits, I will share information about Vickery Creek Middle School and provide insight to middle school life. If you are an HOA board member and would like to have me attend one of your monthly, semi-annual, or annual HOA meetings, please click on the link below.

This is TOME's book for August. So far, it is full of hope, suspense, bravery. It is well written and the main character is Ahmed, a 14-year old boy who is newly arrived to Belgium following a harrowing escape that cost him greatly.

I love Pam Jenoff books, because they are historical fiction books. This book is about WWII in Poland of a family in hiding from the Nazis.

Wonderful collection of poems selected by the author to cure what ails you. The poems are arranged to ”help” with certain illnesses or conditions like loneliness, lack of courage, heartbreak, hopelessness, and stress. Sometimes only a poem will do. These poetic prescriptions and wise words of advice offer comfort, delight and inspiration for all; a space for reflection, and a chance to realize - I'm not the only one who feels like this.
