February Newsletter
Updates from the College, Career & Counseling Offices
February is Career & Technical Education Month!
CTE offers high school and college students hands-on training that can be applied to real-world career pathways.
Career & Technical Education can:
- Educate students for a range of career options
- Integrate with academics to provide a rigorous & relevant curriculum.
- Feature high school and post secondary partnerships that provide clear paths to certifications and degrees.
The benefits of CTE include:
- Supporting student access, retention and completion of a postsecondary CTE program.
- Preparing students to obtain high-skill, high-wage, in-demand careers.
- Preparation for employment in current or emerging careers requiring less than a bachelor’s degree.
During the month of February, students of all ages are encouraged to explore viable programs that prepare them for successful career entry, advancement and continuing education using Xello or use Michigan’s free online career exploration tool, Pathfinder.
Class of 2022!
Complete your FAFSA!
The deadline for the FAFSA is March 1st! Filing a FAFSA is the single most important thing you can do to get money for college. It's the gateway to college grants, work-study funds, and federal student loans, as well as certain state-based aid, like TIP. If you need help, please contact Mrs. Birkmeier.
It's not too late to apply!
Colleges with rolling admissions evaluate applications as they are received versus waiting to evaluate all applications after a hard deadline. Schools will continue to evaluate applications until they've filled all the slots for their incoming class. Make sure to take the time to complete those college applications ASAP and be sure to use the resources the College & Career offices have to offer.
The Chesaning Local Scholarship is open!
The Local Scholarship requirements include the application, resume, essay, and two letters of reference.
Some scholarships have specific requirements like extra applications or essays. Make sure to read through all of the scholarships and extra requirements on the google form!
