Are you creative? Do you want to be the “voice” for ISOK students? Do you enjoy serving others?
ISOK Student Council members are the voice of ISOK students. Each grade level will have a representative that is elected to represent that grade level on the Student Council.
Student Council consists of the following roles:
- President
- Vice President
- 12th-grade representative
- 11th-grade representative
- 10th-grade representative
- 9th-grade representative
- 8th-grade representative
- 7th-grade representative
Students must be in the 12th or 11th grade to run for President or Vice-President. Elections will be held soon. Look for more information coming soon.

Gifted and Talented Program
At ISOK, we have a program for gifted students at all grade levels, which includes opportunities for virtual and in person enrichment classes, as well as clubs, a Quiz bowl team and coding classes.
How can you tell if your child might qualify as gifted? Gifted children stand out from their peers by developing interests in philosophical and social issues. They are also very sensitive, both emotionally and physically. They tend to have extensive vocabularies and may read earlier than their peers. Even if they read at the standard age, they tend to read rapidly and widely. They also love to ask "what if" questions. (https://www.verywell.com/characteristics-of-gifted-children-1449114)
If you are not already a part of the Gifted and Talented program, but feel like it might be a good fit for you, please watch the following recording for more information and to sign up for testing: https://sas.elluminate.com/site/external/jwsdetect/playback.jnlp?psid=2016-08-23.1443.M.B9D768B77090B9C6C0F0272E37D32A.vcr&sid=559

Parents Right to Know
At the beginning of each school year, a school district that accepts Title I, Part A funding must notify parents of students in Title I schools that they can request information regarding their child’s teacher, including, at a minimum:
(1) whether the teacher has met the state requirements for licensure and certification for the grade levels and subject-matters in which the teacher provides instruction; and
(2) whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or their provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived; and
(3) the college major and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree; and
(4) whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.
In addition, each Title I school must provide each parent timely notice that the parent’s child has been assigned, or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified.
To receive any of this information please contact Nicole Ellison, Title I Coordinator, at niellison@insightok.org
ISOK is proud to provide your student the best possible educational experiences. ISOK strives to recruit the most qualified, experienced, and passionate educators to work with our students. All teachers employed at ISOK for the SY16-17 are highly qualified as defined by the State Department of Oklahoma. For more information regarding highly qualified criteria or other public school related matters you may go to the Oklahoma State Department website at http://ok.gov/sde/.
Sincerely,
Nicole Ellison

A note from our school counselor
Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year. I am glad you decided to join the Insight family. I thought I would start out by explaining the role of the school counselor. The role of a school counselor is to help students focus on academic, personal/social, and career development with the goal of achieving success both in school and as responsible members of society. School counselors help students to understand and work through social, behavioral, and personal problems. Emphasis is placed on preventative and developmental counseling to enhance students’ personal, social, and academic growth and to provide students with the skills and tools needed to be proactive.
I also wanted you to know that this first block is a learning experience. We are all here to help you have a successful first block. If you are a new student your classes were selected by looking at your transcripts and deciding what you need to meet graduation requirements. You will get to select your electives the remainder of the blocks.
If you have class concerns, you may email me at lsanders@insightok.org I will be happy to help you out. I will be contacting students later in the block to learn more about each student and to make sure we are helping you achieve your goals. Your advisors will be in contact with you and are a great resource.
Welcome and work hard and let’s all have a successful year.
