Last week I had the pleasure of attending the year 7&8 camp to Woodend. We were very fortunate to have had the support of Pub Charity who through their generous donation enabled the camp to go ahead. These camps are a highlight for our students and a very necessary component of our school curriculum. Many of the activities on the camp take the students out of their comfort zone and provide challenges outside the classroom. It is awesome to see students rise above their fears and give things a go even when they are scared. For many students this is their first time away from home and this can be a huge challenge in itself. For us as teachers the responsibility is great with 24 hour supervision. We aim to give the same care and attention that parents would give their children whilst they are in our care. As professionals we take this very seriously and view it as a great privilege to be responsible for your children. After 23 years of taking students on camps it still thrills me to see the elation and sense of achievement that students display after achieving challenging tasks or even just being away from home.

Our Catholic Faith Fact - Feast of St Andrew the Apostle
St. Andrew, also known as Andrew the Apostle, was a Christian Apostle and the older brother to St. Peter. According to the New Testament, Andrew was born in the village of Bethsaida on the Sea of Galilee during the early first century. Much like his younger brother, Simon Peter, Andrew was also a fisherman. Andrew's very name means strong and he was known for having good social skills. In the Gospel of Matthew, it is said Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee and saw Andrew and Simon Peter fishing. It is then he asked the two to become disciples and "fishers of men."
Year 8 2023 School Based Vaccination Programme
The School Based Vaccination programme will offer the two dose HPV vaccinations to
protect against genital warts, cervical cancer, throat and mouth cancers, and other types

To enable students to receive the vaccinations at school a vaccination pack will be
provided to students who have not completed their vaccinations in General Practice in

Attendance Dues Debt Recovery
Please be advised that at the May 2022 Cathedral Parish Finance Committee, the committee signed off on a new Attendance Dues Debt Recovery Policy. This enables the parish to engage an external debt recovery company (Under Control Collections). This will always be used as a last resort, when we have been unable to get a family to engage with us in relation to their outstanding Attendance Dues.
Any queries should be directed to Kirsten Tester – Attendance Dues Administrator - Ph (03) 595 1053 or ktester@cathedralparish.nz
