Physical Education UPDATE
December 2017
GREETINGS FROM THE OES GYM.....
By now you have received your child's report card. There are two grades for Physical Education.
The first standard is based on skills and the second standard is based on following directions and doing what is expected of them in the gym. We call that our work habit. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me or call me and I can help you understand the grade that your child earned.
- Demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns

WORK HABIT FOCUS in December.....
In the month of December I will be focusing on WORK HABITS and what it looks and feels like in Physical Education. I have told the students, if they are able to work together in the gym then it carries over to their classroom, recess, home and activities outside of school. We are constantly focusing on working with others respectfully, safely, and in an appropriate manner.

ELKS HOOP SHOOT CONTEST
The Elk's club holds a FREE THROW SHOOTING CONTEST every year. This is NOT a school sponsored activity, however we do help them out by giving our students a chance to make it to the contest on January 6, 2018.
During PE class in December, students age 8-13 will have a chance to shoot free throws. The magic date to determine their age is APRIL 1, 2018. Whatever their age is as of that date will determine what age group they participate in. There is a section for boys and another section for girls.
8-9
10-11
12-13
Students MUST be able to attend the actual contest date on January 6, 2018, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
The students that make the most free throws in each age section will be selected to participate in January.
The contest is January 6, 2018, at the Oskaloosa High School. Students from surrounding schools will also be participating in the hoop shoot contest.
