May has been magnificent!

We hope you have enjoyed the end-of-the-year activities thus far! It feels so awesome to see families back in the building.

Another huge thank you to:

Dr. Sarasin, Mr. Turner, Mrs. Magid, Mrs. Doetsch, and the rest of the Henking team for all the hard work that went into the wonderful Spring show, SMILE! Your children were absolutely fabulous in it!

Staying cool at Henking

On March 17, 2020, the Glenview community approved a referendum for $119 million to allow District 34 to repair, replace and update our buildings. As you know, Henking has a new wing and this summer will undergo a substantial renovation thanks to that community support.

A part of this renovation is the installation of a brand-new cooling system. There have been significant delays from ComEd in delivering the transformer to help run the electricity and the cooling system; we had hoped to have that transformer installed last year. However, ComEd has assured us that it will be delivered and installed this summer. However, at this time, Henking does not have air conditioning.

The weather forecast for next week predicts warmer temperatures. If that forecast holds, we can expect to experience cooler temperatures in the morning and warmer temperatures in the afternoon. Please dress your children in layers so they can be comfortable throughout the day.

The District is providing box fans for each classroom. Teachers will increase water breaks to ensure students stay hydrated, and will keep windows open to increase airflow wherever possible. In addition, our gym and multipurpose room have air conditioning, so we can schedule visits to those areas in the event it gets very warm in classrooms.

We appreciate your understanding as we work through this final phase of renovation to Henking, and look forward to welcoming our staff, students and families to the new and much improved Henking in August!

Spring Benefit: Parent's Night Out!

Join other Henking/Hoffman parents for a fun night with Jori Rose & The Thorns at Hangar Two on June 2nd! Heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and a Silent Auction (featuring class baskets) will round out the evening. We anticipate that this event will sell out quickly, so get your tickets now.

Volunteers are also needed to help secure donations for the silent auction and help with day-of set up. Our goal is to organize 30-50 items that will be offered as a stand alone offering or paired with a couple of other items to form a package. If you are interested in joining the PTA silent auction committee (even an hour or so a week would help!), please email Michelle Greenhaw at eventsponsorships@hehopta.org.

Lost & Found

Has a coat, mitten, or water bottle gone missing? Now that spring is here, you can collect all your winter accessories to be stored away for the season! Check out the online Lost and Found page for Henking and Hoffman to get these items back home.
