Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better. ~Maya Angelou
Through CBF's Teachers on the Bay experience, educators not only know better and can do better for themselves, but most importantly, can do better for whole populations of students throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. This learning experiences was a once in a lifetime experience, transforming the lives of all of the educators involved, to create learning for students that is also forever transformed!

Exploring the Past, for Lessons for the Future
- The Chesapeake Bay watershed is rich with historical sites and learning opportunities.
- While exploring the Rappahannock River, we followed the path of John Smith and early explorers.
- We learned about his voyage and interactions with Native Americans in the area. We visited the Menokin Plantation and learned about its architecture, restoration, history, and connection to the Declaration of Independence.
- During our time on Fox and Smith Islands, we learned about the history of each and how much they have changed over time, both geographically and in regard to human use.
