Welcome to...
Your Last Year of Residency!
Did you take the RESA?
According to ODE: "Resident Educators now have a deepened understanding of teaching and learning as a reciprocal, collaborative, and ongoing journey. Upon successful completion of the summative assessment, REs become more autonomous as they begin to explore teacher leadership opportunities within and beyond the Resident Educator Program. "
If you did not take/pass any sections of the RESA in Y3, much of your year this year will be spent completing those requirements. If you DID take it in Y3, you will be moving on to complete 3 major tasks this year that will help to develop your leadership...
Task 1: Deepening Content Expertise
- Create and teach an interdisciplinary unit
- Assume and document a leadership role in a department team; teacher-based team; or data team
- Develop and run a HoneyComb session
- Complete National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Take One
- Other options based on specific building needs will be considered. Please email the REC to see if an idea will fit.
Task 2: Collegial Professional Explorations
Task 3: Teacher Leadership
- Contact the REC with the name of the Resident Educator who will be observing you. The REC will verify the pairing is mutually beneficial for both you and the Y1/2.
- Meet in advance for 1 hour and simulate a preobservation conference during which you will explain your lesson and what the Y1/2 will observe in your classroom (responding to data, assessment usage...everything from the Y1/2 instructional cycles)
- Allow the Y1/2 to spend 1/2 day with you (they may get a substitute)
- Meet for 1 hour to simulate a postobservation conference.
This will count as the reciprocal/exemplary observation for the Y1/2.
If a Y1/2 is not available, the REC will determine another leadership possibility.
