Toms River High School East
Newsletter - April 25, 2022
Dear Families,
How was your break? Mine was wonderful! I really enjoyed disconnecting from school and doing things around the house. I visited my girls at their respective colleges, did things around the house, went to dinner and watched movies. I had a great time! I hope you did as well! I did go to movie theater (first time since the pandemic) and watched The Lost City. It was ok. The movie appeared to be a remake of the original Romancing the Stone with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.
Senior Parent Reception
Reminder that our meeting will be held in the Cafeteria this evening at 6 pm. I anticipate we will finish up by 6:45 pm. See previous newsletters for the agenda.
Pep Rally
We held our Spring Pep Rally on Thursday. I was so impressed with the school spirit that day. The kids were all dressed in their Class colors and engaged in positive behavior as they competed for the Spirit Stick! Congratulations to the Seniors for their victory!
Former Raider Nicco Steriti Speaks to East Students!
Shout out to Nico Steriti, an East graduate who came back to visit on April 12th to speak to students about mindful, social, and emotional techniques for successful performance in sports, education and in life. We care about the mental well-being of our Raiders just as much as their academic performance so we are very excited about this addition to our career series.
Earth Day!
Former Raider Teacher of the Year, Ken Tierney, continued his service to our East community this past week. Mr. Tierney (my mentor teacher) always advocated to his students to support a healthy environment and do to your part to keep it clean. Mr. Tierney would dedicate one day per year (Earth Day), to go out on to school property and to pick up bottles, paper, cans, etc. He enjoys beautifying areas and we thank him for his continued dedication to our school community!
