Week of 9/21/15

Grandparents Day was so much fun! A BIG thank you to Kim Griffin for organizing, to Pam Sowell for ensuring that every child received a book and to our amazing cafeteria team that made hundreds of the most delicious homemade rolls! You are all amazing!

Coach

I am from the small town of Newport. Much like Cabot, Newport has always prided itself on family, friendships and being home to the Newport Greyhounds. This weekend, my town lost one of its legends...Coach Bill Keedy. He was the football coach and athletic director for many years but more importantly than that...he was a teacher. He molded boys into men and made EVERYBODY feel like a somebody! I bet in a million years that he would have never expected so many people to come forward to talk about the incredible impact he had on their lives...much less for it to be covered on all the major AR new stations...but that was just him. It made me stop and think about each of you. You may never know the impact you have made on a child...they may never have the chance to come back and tell you..but trust me, you have. You are the game changers and the difference makers for each one of your students.Thank you for showing up and giving your all each and every day!

Monday---Wear Blue

Monday is wear blue to show support for our police. Change that has been collected from the bookfair will be used to purchase books for police cars. Police officers will be here Monday at 10:30 through lunch. We will celebrate our other Community Superheroes throughout the year!

Take Your Legislator to School Day!

On Wednesday, September 30, it is "Take Your Legislator to School" Day! We have three legislators that will be visiting Eastside. They are tentatively scheduled to be in our building from approximately 11:45-12:15 (give or take 15-20 minutes on either end).

Wear Yellow on Thursday

One of our 3rd graders, Jaycee, who has battled cancer received her "Make A Wish" on Thursday. She will be traveling to California to watch a taping of "Girl Meets World" and go to Universal. She will return on Thursday and to celebrate, Eastside will wear yellow to show our support for this brave little girl and her family!

Report Cards

Report cards will be sent home the Friday before conferences so that parents will have time to look over them before conferences.

Visitors - Building Security

All visitors should enter through the main building entrance and check-in at the office. This includes staff family members. Reinforce with students that they should not open a locked door for anyone. Staff that are allowed access via locked doors should have a key. Everyone else needs to use the main entrance and check-in.
