Commitment is what transforms a promise into a reality. - Abraham Lincoln

Commit to Excellence-Commitment

Loving the feeling throughout the building! You all are amazing as you tirelessly plug away at academics, but save time for all of the extras that make Henderson such a wonderful place to work. From participating in the Christmas parade, angel tree, food drive, PJ day, after school sports and clubs, and secret santa, you are all rock stars. I witness the commitment that you have to your students daily. I want to affirm each of you for not only your commitment to your students, but for your commitment to providing a wonderful atmosphere to work and learn in. It's feels great to be a hawk!

Believe in yourselves! Believe in your kids! I believe in you!

Instructional Focus - 10 Days of Effective Instruction

Candy bars, cokes, gift cards, prizes......the focus on instruction for the next 10 days will have a little twist! Stay tuned. :)

National Week of Code-December 7-11

I'm really excited to offer the opportunity to teach our kids to code. Thank you to Arian for modeling how even our 1st graders can do this. Remember, we are preparing kids for jobs that DO NOT event exist yet! We have to remain cutting edge, even if it is outside of our comfort zone!

For teachers to sign up go to code.org
For the video and beginning coding for teachers to show students it is hourofcode.org/code

My hope is that this is not just a one week event and that this can be incorporated into a station for kids to work on throughout the year.

More information coming from Arian soon!

Affirmations

Thank you Mrs. MacDonald and Mrs. Lopez for such a great time at the Christmas party. All of the extra details that you both incorporated made it such fun! Thank you to the staff who were able to attend. I really enjoyed myself.

Thank you to Mrs. Rossman, Ms. Felix, Mrs. Garza, Ms. Scamardo and Mrs. Greenlee for your part in the KKids Christmas float and participation in the annual parade. The weather could not have been more beautiful and the kids had such a fantastic time.

Thank you to Coach G for organizing the food drive. It takes time and effort to weigh all of those cans! As always, we had great participation and are looking forward to Wednesdays procession!

Thank you to Mrs. Marak for organizing all of the community resources so that our kids will have their needs met over the break!

Thank you to Mrs. Rhodes and Mrs. Navarro for organizing the Aggie game day for 4th and 5th grade! I know it will be a grand time.

OK, there are some over the top secret santa's this year! Thank you to mine who has really made me feel special and put a smile on my face each day! I have seen lots of grins around the building. Thank you to those who are participating and using this as an opportunity to spread joy!
