Butterfly School
Riverside Church of Christ Coppell, Texas
FEBRUARY 2021
Everyday is a reminder of how blessed we are at Butterfly School to be open and operating during this COVID pandemic. Seeing the precious, smiling faces of our RBS children is a daily reminder of just how fortunate we are . Our wonderful RBS families represent many diverse cultures from around the world! Our world is a very big place full of people with different beliefs, customs and traditions. Many of these are vastly different and unfamiliar to us. God made each one of us in his image and for a purpose. Our God loves each and every person so much He gave us His most precious gift! John 3:16 reminds us of this, 'For God so loved the world he gave his only son.'
As we celebrate and connect with one another, it is important to always be respectful, listen, and learn. As we graciously try to gain a mutual understanding with one another, we must be careful never to make assumptions. As we try to become more aware and respectful, we also must be quick to overcome and forgive any misunderstandings. We must continue to remember our children are always watching. You are your child's first teacher. The examples you set will live on in your child throughout their life. I will close with the poignant words of Stephen Sondheim, a famous Broadway Musical composer and lyricist, in this song Children Will Listen from the musical Into the Woods:

Second, per our COVID Response Plan located on our website, you must email the office immediately if anyone in your household has been a close contact or tests positive for COVID.
Thank you for your transparency and understanding as we carefully navigate this time. I assure you I have been just as transparent with you.

CHAPEL CHAT Ms Chris
A new month is upon us and we have learned so much since September! Our Bible Verse for January was “Children Obey your parents” Ephesians 6:1. The children shared how they obey. We will continue to learn this Bible verse on February 2 as we hear how Jonah didn’t obey God and what happened next! Our new Bible verse will start February 9, “Be strong and courageous” Joshua 1:9. We will learn about three people who were not afraid because God was on their side!!
MUSICAL MOMENTS Ms Deborah
Love, Family, and Friends are the theme for music the month of February. All of the classes will be singing songs with the theme while practicing all the music basics we have learned about so far, dynamics, tempo, and rhythm. The 3s classes will also continue their journey through the alphabet with R is for Rhythm, V is for Voice, I is for Instrument, and G is for Guitar. The Pre-K class with continue learning the symbols for music including notes and rests and what they mean. May love fill your hearts this month with music and songs. Love, Ms. Deborah
AMAZIMG ARTISTS Ms Jennifer
In art class we learned about a new artist Piet Mondrian and his use of primary colors and geometric elements. The Piet Mondrian snowman was one of the examples that the students exhibited his works. In February, we will focus on a new artist Jim Dime and his use of hearts in his artwork.
