Jot Thought for reading
Working with main ideas and details, students used the Jot Thought strategies before reading a story about the circus. Students wrote things they knew about the circus on sticky notes and then we sorted them by category.
Spelling
Gearing up for our spelling test, we did a quick Quiz, Quiz Trade strategy to help us remember the words. Students wrote one spelling word on a card then found another person to quiz, traded cards, then moved on to find another student. An excellent way to review before a test!
Technology
After visiting our subtraction centers in the LRC, we used an app on the Ipods called Explain It. The children were given pictures of the different centers they went to and then had to record themselves explaining step by step what they did to solve the math equation.

Winter Gear
Even though we have had a very mild December so far, we know that winter weather will be on its way shortly. As your child is bringing in boots, snow pants, etc, please make sure that they are labeled with your child's name. Also, we go to PE, Art, and Music first thing in the morning. If your child does not need to wear snow pants to school in the morning, it would be appreciated if they could be brought in a bag instead of wearing them to school. The same will be done at the end of the day. This will allow us to save that time for academic purposes. We will make sure they have time to bundle up before recess so that they are warm and toasty to play outside.
Musical
Next Thursday is our musical! Please make sure you have your child at Jefferson at 6:10 pm The program will start at 6:30. We can't wait!!!!
