Troy 30-C Monthly Happenings
May 2023

Superintendent's Corner
It is hard to believe that tomorrow, June 1 is the last day of school for the 2022-2023 school year. This was my first school year as Troy 30-C Superintendent, and I could not be prouder of all of the hard work our students and staff put in this year. It was a pleasure to visit our schools, speak with staff members, and visit classrooms. On one such visit to Shorewood Elementary School, I was greeted by Mrs. Swanson's class. Her class prepared a special visit for me "Coffee with the Superintendent". The students enjoyed hot chocolate and I had coffee, while the class asked me questions and learned more about my role as Superintendent at Troy 30-C. While I enjoy every Coffee with the Superintendent, this one was extra special. By visiting our schools and classrooms I am able to see the hard work that our staff and students put in each and every day. Every day our staff works diligently to improve students' lives, a task that they all succeed in. I even had a few opportunities to be the classroom mystery reader. Having the opportunity to surprise a classroom and read a good book is an honor that I am proud to participate in. I look forward to the upcoming school year and seeing our staff and students continue to do great things.
Thank you to our Troy 30-C staff, students, and families for a successful 2022-2023 school year! You sure do know how to #BeTroyBlue. I hope you all have a wonderful summer!
-Dr. Paul Schrik

Joliet Region Hawk Education Scholarship Recipients
This year we celebrate 8 students as recipients of the Joliet Region Hawk Education scholarship. All 8 students are receiving a $1,000 scholarship that will be held in a trust until they are ready to enroll in a college or university. The Joliet Region Education Scholarship Program began in 2014 and serves to reward academic performance and community service. This program encourages lifelong learning and provides students with resources to be successful after graduation.
The application process gathered student and family information, information about extracurricular activities, scholastic awards, and any recognition outside of school. Students provided biographical information, a written essay, and a copy of their report card. The applications are reviewed at the school, district, and Joliet Chamber levels and winners are selected as they make their way through this process. At the May 17th Board of Education meeting we recognized and celebrated the 8 winners from Troy 30-C.
