Chris's Corner
Chris Matatall
Chief Operations Officer
August was awesome! September is starting out to be even better. Positive momentum is a great feeling, and we have it.
I read a lot. It keeps my mind fresh; at least I think it does. I read spy books. I read about history (mainly revolutionary times). I also read books that help with business and self motivation. You may be asking why am I stating all of this? It is because I want to encourage you to do the same. You may think that you do not have enough time, but would it really be that difficult to carve 30 minutes out of your day? Trust me, in the long run it will definitely be worth it.
Knowledge is a great thing, and reading is a great way to gather the knowledge you need to do your job, manage your employee’s, manage your finances (personal and business), and many other aspects of life. I know what some are going to say, “Where is the video??" Well…call me old school if you want, but I like to read and dissect what I am reading, that way I retain more. I discard any information that doesn’t apply to me; and let what does apply become a part of my daily routine. Sometimes it sticks, sometimes it doesn't. But I keep trying, and so should you.
Listed below are some quotes that I pulled from what I am currently reading:
“When you do the right thing, it can liberate you from having to monitor everything”
“What is the ONE THING I can do to help my team succeed?” - Your Job
“What is the ONE THING I can do to improve our customer experience?” - Your Business
“What is the ONE THING I can do to eliminate my credit card debt?” - Your Finances
“Accountable people achieve results others only dream of.”
I want to hear from you. Give me your opinions, send them to info@inteccommunications.net. Have a great month everyone!

Ladder Safety
Ladders are very useful tools. By their nature, they are not very dangerous, but when used improperly they can cause death or major injury. Ladders cause an estimated 300 deaths and 130,000 injuries requiring emergency medical attention every year. (safety.com) Some of the most common hazards involving ladders are instability, electrical shocks, and falling.
Here at Intec Communications, LLC our technicians are using Ladders frequently, if not every day. Ladder safety is mostly common sense, but a simple mistake and you may end up paying the price. Please take the time to refresh your memory with the ladder safety tips below:
The first step is choosing the Right Ladder – select a ladder with the appropriate size and construction for the task at hand
If you are going to be handling anything with an electric current, you should never use a metal ladder
Make sure that your ladder can tolerate your weight
Most ladders are meant to support only one person
Do not try to reach so far that you lose your balance; instead, simply move the ladder
Place the ladder on a non-skid surface or add rubber treads to the bottom to prevent slippage
Never stand on the ladder's top three rungs
Don't put a ladder's base too close to the thing it is leaned against; the base should be spaced 1 foot away for every 4 feet it reaches up
When using extension ladders, make sure that all locks are firmly secured
Never use a wet ladder, as you may slip while climbing
