CELLS ∞
Different Organelles
Cell Membrane
- Keeps parts of the cell inside the cells
- Structure: Not a solid, plastic bag-like which is made of Proteins and Phospholipids
- Found in Plant And Animal cells
Cell Wall
- Made of Cellulose
- Provides a protective frame so the cell can survive
- Only in Plants
- Helps the plant keep it's shape, gives support, and protection
Cytoplasm
- The fluid that fills the cell
- Both animal and plant cels have this
- Different types of fluids are in the cell
Nucleus
- Acts like the brain of the cell
- Controls eating, movement, and reproduction of the cell
- Not all cells have a nucleus
- Plant and Animal cells have a nucleus
Nuclear Membrane
- the double membrane surrounding the nucleus within a cell
- Also known as the Nuclear
Nucleolus
- the center of the Nucleus
- makes ribosomal subunits from proteins
- Nucle "o" lus
- In both animal and plants have this
Centrioles
- Helps the cell wall when it comes time to divide
- Made of microtubules
- cannot be seen when the cell is dividing
- Only in Animals
Chromatin
- made of DNA, RNA, and nuclear proteins
- starts working when the cell divides
- Condense
- In both plant and animal
Ribosomes
- The protein builders of the cells
- In both animal and plant cells
- floats free in the cytoplasm
Golgi apparatus
- Combines simple molecules to make them complex molecules
- In both plant and animal cells
Endoplasmic reticulum
- functions as the manufacturing and packaging system of the cell
- found in both animal and plant cells
Mitochondria
- Powerhouse of the cell
- acts like the digestive system
- keeps the cell full of energy
- in both animal and plant cells
Chloroplast
- FOOD PRODUCERS OF THE CELL
- found only in plants
- works with sunlight to convert it into food.
Lysosomes
- Digests things
- vesicle that hols multiple enzymes
- in only animal cells
- works with the Golgi Apparatus
Peroxisomes
- Small vesicles found around a cell
- BREAKS DOWN TOXIC MATERIAL IN THE CELL
- in both animal and plant cells
Vaculoe
- like storage bubbles
- in both animal and plant cells
- store waste products so it wont harm the rest of the cell
Cytoskeleton
- Helps cell maintains its shape
- CONNECTS TO EVERY ORGANELLE AND EVERY PART OF THE CELL MEMBRANE
- in both plant and animals
