Storrington Stingers Family Update
Week at a Glance: Feb 5 - 9
Hello Storrington Families!
I am excited to join the Storrington community as your new school Principal! I had the pleasure of meeting many Stinger students and parents during my visits and I look forward getting to know more of you in the days ahead!
Here is a little about me! I joined the Limestone District School Board in 2018 after working almost 20 years with the York Region District School Board. I've worked in many schools across the Greater Toronto area and my passion for travel also brought me some unique international experiences working in schools in both South America and Western Europe! My classroom experiences range from Kindergarten through Grade 8 with a diverse background working in the areas of School Leadership, Physical Education, and Special Education. After joining Limestone, I had the opportunity to work in a number of communities from Polson Park to Odessa, and most recently at Glenburnie and Joyceville Public Schools! I have the pleasure of meeting many wonderful families within the District and I believe that establishing strong home/school partnerships are key to creating a solid foundation for learning and encouraging the positive well-being and overall success of students!
Storrington families, I'm thrilled and honoured to serve as your Principal. A huge thank you goes out to Mr. Pattison and the wonderful Storrington Staff for supporting my transition with such a warm welcome to the school these past few weeks! I look forward to working with our community partners, connecting with families, learning with staff, and supporting your child's growth, happiness, and achievement at school!
Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!
Sincerely Yours in Education,
Amie Domingo
Principal
Here are some Week at a Glance reminders and updates:
Black History Month
During the month of February, Storrington students will recognize Black History Month. Black History Month is a way for Canadians to celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians. Through their work and dedication, they have helped to enhance and define the Canadian culture and to make Canada into the country that it is today. Please take the time to discuss, with your child, the importance of why we recognize and celebrate Black History Month.
Storrington Spirit and Recognition Assembly
We had our Storrington Spirit and Recognition Assembly on Monday, January 29 at 10:00. Thank you to those from our Storrington community who joined us to celebrate at the assembly. Congrats to all of our award recipients!
Kindergarten Registration for September 2024 Now Underway
Do you have a child ready to start Kindergarten this September? If your student is four or five by the end of December, now is the time to register. Limestone offers both English and French Immersion programs that build strong foundations in reading, writing and math. We cannot wait to welcome your new student this fall. For more information, please visit https://bit.ly/Kinder_2024.
Amendment to School Year Calendar 2023-2024 – Total Solar Eclipse
This is a reminder that the 2023-2024 school year calendar has been amended so that the April PA Day, originally scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2024, will now occur on Monday, April 8, 2024. This change does not add an additional PA Day for the school year, but simply adjusts the date of the April PA Day due to the total solar eclipse on April 8. April 12 will now be a regular school day. An updated 2023-2024 school year calendar has been posted to the board website.
School Council Candy Grams Fundraiser
A reminder that our Storrington Student Council will be selling candy grams (to be delivered on Valentines Day) until Monday, February 12. Candy grams will cost $1.00 each. With every 5 candy grams purchased, 1 candy gram will be donated anonymously to a student who would not otherwise receive one. The student council will ensure that all students in Storrington will receive a candy gram and that no one feels left out. The student council has voted and decided that all proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the library renovation and to purchase new books. Thanks in advance to our Stinger community for your continued support of student council initiatives.
