And if you Tweet, we are also on Twitter. Look for us at @SEEagles231.

Out of Town Absences

Fall break is on the horizon, and many families will be taking advantage of days off to travel. Per the district handbook, absences due to out of town trips are unexcused unless requested and approved in advance. Please email Dr. Jones at jonesja@usd231.com ahead of time. This will allow Dr. Jones to review your student's attendance to decide if their requested day(s) will be excused.

DROPPING OFF YOUR STUDENT IN THE MORNING

In the mornings, please remember to pull all the way up to the "Student Drop Off Starts Here" sign, just like the car did in the picture above...even if you are the only car in line. This allows us to help unload as many students as we can at one time...and to keep the car line from backing up to the street. Thank you so much for your help!

IN SEARCH OF AMAZING YEARBOOK PHOTOS

Hello parents! We are always looking for fun pictures to use in the Sunflower yearbook. Field trips are just around the corner! If you accompany your student on their field trip, AND take pictures of your student and their friends, would you be willing to send those pictures to me? You can email the pictures to me at jacobsc@usd231.com.

Sunflower Site Council Meetings 2018-2019

The Sunflower Site Council will be meeting at 6 pm in the library on the following dates: 9/11/18, 11/13/18, 2/5/19, 4/9/19.

All meetings are open to the public.

Kansas schools are required to establish site councils composed of the principal, teachers and other school personnel, parents,

business representatives, and other community groups.

Site councils have a responsibility to provide advice and counsel in the following areas: evaluating district and school performance goals and objectives,

determining methods to meet those goals and objectives,

and other areas as requested by the board of education.

Remember, the work of the site council is advisory only;

it makes recommendations, not decisions.

Sunflower PTO

Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has been an integral part of Sunflower Elementary for many years. Through fundraisers and fun events, they are able to provide funds to teachers, classrooms, and the school.

We invite everyone to join the Sunflower PTO Facebook page. By searching "Gardner Sunflower PTO" under Pages, you will be able to join the group and receive updated PTO information.
