Principal's PLC-Connection
We have a lot going on these next couple of weeks. Please be mindful of the changes in Specials (SexEd Program begins), slight changes in a few lunch times (Middle School overhaul of schedule), Galileo Testing, Science Fair (you will be given a time frame you can take your class to see the displays if you so choose).
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
- Have you worked with your students (Rising Rockets) on Goal Setting? Please be ready to show/share how your students are tracking/goal setting with progress monitoring data. Sample Goal Setting forms are attached at the bottom.
- The contractual day begins at 7:30 a.m. This means that we are in our classrooms ready to receive students at 7:30. Please let me know if you are running late or need to leave early.
- Please remember to clock-in and out each day.
- If you are out absent, please be sure to put your absence into Aesop (if you are a teacher) and Time Clock Plus. Please do so in a timely fashion so we have the best chances of securing a substitute.
- Please be sure to take your attendance daily before 9:00 a.m.
Rising Rockets Club
Please make sure you are filling out the Rising Rocket Club log with your communication. I will be scheduling a (Take2)R.R.C. Parent Informational for those who could not attend or did not get the invite.I would like to put together something special. Please think of an ending to this phrase:
"Together We Can..."
Make it unique to your perspective, content, or passion. For instance, a PE teacher might say, "Together We Can Run The Race." A Math teacher might say, "Together We Can Solve Problems." A Social Worker might say, "Together We Can Resolve Conflict." Whatever your passion, fill in the blank. Another teacher might answer, "Together We Can Make our School a Magical Place."
Principally yours,
Mrs. Annamarie Dowling-Garrott

Learning Checks
The Research Says....
- Learning checks for understanding have 20-30x more positive impact on learning than most popular current practices
- 10x more cost effective than reducing class size
- May increase speed of learning up to 400%
*More learning checks for understanding during instruction make a greater impact on learning!* *Slow down Instruction to speed up Learning*
A learning check is NOT a learning check unless you do all 4 steps!
- Generate Observable Behavior (*Aligned to the Objective / *100% Participation)
- Check the Responses (*Inspect the results)
- Monitor the Student Responses (*Estimate the number of accurate response)
- Decide the next Teaching Steps (*R.A.M.P.)
When do I engage students in a learning check? You need to know if students are with you or not!
- As a pre-assessment/review
- After the model
- During guided practice
- Before independent practice
- After key learning segments
