Moving Forward!!

As we begin a new month, I want to encourage everyone to keep students engaged and on task. With 78, yes just 78 days of instruction left for the 2015-2016 school year it is imperative that we continue to ready students for the ACT Aspire, ACT or alternative assessment, MSAA.

Our second quarter 45 Day Plan has been submitted to ADE. If you would like to look at the report in its entirety it is in a folder in google docs. Some of the data submitted is as follows: Our current enrollment is 9th 312; 10th 268; 11th 277; 12th 256; for a total of 1113. We currently have 3 students with 5 or more office referrals, and 105 students with ten or more absences. This jumped from 17 with ten or more absences first 9 weeks to 105 second 9 weeks. Please encourage your students to show up!! Teacher attendance has been excellent overall so thank you for being present and here for our students.

We are also required to report the students that are behind 3 grade levels or more in math and literacy, According to RTI Arkansas and the resources they provide, there does not exist an instrument in math at the high school level to determine this data (3 or more years below grade level). The data we submitted instead is the number of students who failed at least one semester of math and literacy this school year in 9th and 10th grade. We requested permission to do this from our ADE SIS and it was approved. We currently have 63 students in math and 64 in literacy. The English data was collected in the same manner however, we do have an instrument to determine the actual grade level in reading. We have evaluated over half our students reading levels and will report our findings in our 3rd quarter report.

We had 96 students in literacy with a D or F this quarter, and 69 in Algebra 1, 55 in Algebra 2, and 74 in Geometry. We will continue to put our energy into remediation, re-teach re-test, and tutoring to provide the tools necessary to help our students. All your efforts are appreciated.

Please encourage your students to attend Night Library and Tutoring on Tuesday - Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00. Transportation is provided at 5:00 and 6:00.

I have attached a link below for ACT Aspire information.
