Los deportes (sports)-Unidad 3.2

Dear Family,

I hope this update finds you well. Our new unit focuses on authentic culture and real-life communication using Spanish in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It practices reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and introduces students to culture typical of San Juan (baseball in Puerto Rico).

In this etapa, students are learning to talk about sports, express preferences, say what they know, and make comparisons. They are also learning about grammar— the verbs jugar and saber, stem-changing verbs, and phrases of comparison.

Dates for upcoming assessments are as follow:

March 6th -Vocabulary quiz-

March 13th -Grammar quiz (stem-changing verbs and phrases of comparison)

March 16th-Small project on a selected sport is due.

March 20th -Test

March 23-Written PBA

Resources and homework

Our site has lots of vocabulary and grammar review. A particular site that I recommend for verb drills is Here they can choose the specific verb(s) they want to practice.

Last but not least, research tells us that in there is a big correlation between unit test grades and homework completion. Please encourage your students to study and do their homework! They are never too long!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have as

your student learns to read, write, listen, and speak in Spanish.
