DIBELS Update from our Title I Department
Families,
Thank you so much to all our Petersen Families for your support in ensuring all our students are DIBELS tested this fall. We are still working to reschedule times for make up tests. For our fifth and sixth graders, the Title I department will be sending messages directly to your student’s Canvas Inbox with a DIBELS makeup time and link to a Zoom session. We will contact fourth grade parents to schedule a time.
If your student has not yet tested, please have them watch for an invite in their Canvas Inbox next week. We still have a few classes left to test as well. Notifications for class testing times will be sent to parents’ email. If you would like to be present during your student’s test, and the scheduled time does not work for your family, please send an email to lkinsman@scappoose.k12.or.us to find a new time.
Thank you!

Missed the Supply Distribution Event?
Please call our front office at 971-200-8003 and we will happily assist you in getting the necessary items. Here is the information that we will need from you:
1. Your child's name
2. Your child's grade level
3. What items you will be picking up (you may not need all of them!)
- 4th and 5th Grades: Math Workbook, Journeys Textbook, Tech Help Sheet
- 6th Grade: Academic Planner, Tech Help Sheet
- Binders/Folder from your child's Case Manager
- School Supplies
We will set up an appointment with you to pick up the necessary materials for your child from our building. If you are checking out a textbook, you will need to complete a Textbook Checkout Agreement Form prior to receiving a textbook. There are hard copies of this form available at our building if you are unable to print and complete this form prior to arriving at your scheduled time.
Grading Systems
There are two important pieces to know as we enter the conversation of grades:
First, grading has not been synced from Canvas to Synergy, and despite the best efforts and in-depth research into this issue by our IT Department, the two programs are not able to be synced and collaborative within their system agreement at this time. Due to this issue as well as still being very early in the grading period, if you are checking ParentVue or Canvas for your child's grade thus far, please know that the grades will likely be skewed at this time and will not accurately reflect your child's overall grade to this point. Assignment completion or missing assignments will indicate your child's progress so far, as well as his/her daily participation in class discussions or viewing teacher instruction.
Secondly, within Canvas, grades are automatically generated as the same percentage of the final grade for every assignment. This means that although one assignment may be worth five points and another 25 points, within Canvas they are generated as the same percentage of the final grade. Our teachers are working to manually input grades into Synergy so that as a parent, you are able to log in to view your child's current grade and information, according to the weight of the assignment and the varying points/percentages that each assignment or task holds.
