Counselors Corner

Safe Families for Children is an organization that helps families in need while decreasing the number of kids in the foster care system. You can learn more about this program at www.safe-families.org. They are available to help Brownsburg families by providing host families for those in crisis. You can also find information about how you can sign up to be a volunteer or a host family. Contact Counselors Miss Griffin (A-K) or Mr. Patterson (L-Z) if you’d like more information.

Character Education

Counselors Miss Griffin and Mr. Patterson will be visiting classrooms to present December's character trait, COMPASSION - Kindness; to take action to help others.

Very Important: Social Media Policy and Guidelines for Students

Social media has become a significant source of communication and community for young people today. While it has a lot of positive potential and benefits, it also carries a lot of potential for problems. Many cases of anxiety, poor self-image/self-esteem, and peer conflict stem from interactions that take place over social media and texting. Please take time to review the handbook guidelines with your student and stress the importance of keeping electronic posts – whether to a public or private contact – appropriate and kind.

The full handbook can be found at https://www.brownsburg.k12.in.us/cms/lib/IN02200676/Centricity/Domain/77/2021_High_School_Handbook.FINAL%20030920.pdf, and a couple of key points are provided below.

  • Recognize the value of open sharing, diversity of opinion, and civil debate. Do not use social media sites to publish harassing remarks about community members, extra-curricular or academic contest rivals, etc.
  • Students should be conscientious of the privacy of BCSC students and faculty. Taking photographs or creating digital video recordings of BCSC community members either on campus or at off-campus BCSC events for online publication or distribution without their consent could constitute unlawful “invasion of privacy”.
  • Cyberbullying will not be tolerated. Harassing, dissing, flaming, denigrating, impersonating, outing, tricking, excluding, and cyber stalking are all examples of cyberbullying. Don’t send emails or post comments with the intent of scaring, hurting, or intimidating someone else.

Thank you for helping to keep our students healthy and safe, both in person and online.

PSAT 8/9 Score Reports

PSAT 8/9 scores for students can be accessed starting December 5th on the College Board website. Students will need to create a College Board account at collegeboard.org in order to access their scores.

Attendance Procedures

For accuracy in attendance reporting, please call in appointments the day that they will occur. Because appointments can often change, we do not take notice of appointments in advance.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

A Message from the School Clinic

If your student has an Asthma or Allergy plan, please send the necessary paperwork to the clinic so that their medication can be stored in the clinic. Students should not carry medication themselves (prescription or Non-prescription).

Please remember to sign up for Schoolcare. Schoolcare is the system used by the clinic to check important health information about your students, as well as your authorization for treatment for your student if they don't feel well during school hours. If you do not see the email in your inbox, please check your spam/junk folder. The email comes from noreply@schoolcare.com.

Parent Meetings

Team 2026 relies on communication and relationships to help you and your student feel supported and valued. We would like for every parent to meet at least one Team 2026 member in person. As we continue to get to know our parents and students, do not hesitate to request a meeting with a Team 2026 member.
