Colin Powell Parent Newsletter
January 2019
BETTER TOGETHER
As a school, it is our responsibility to partner with parents and the community to make sure that the needs of students are being met everyday. In order to do that, we need to connect with parents through positive communication. Keeping parents informed is a yearlong responsibility, but it is one that has the potential to make an affirmative difference in your child's educational experience. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you connected and to inform you of school policies and upcoming events on campus.
CORE SURVEY
Beginning Jan.13th, you will be receiving messages asking you to complete the CORE survey. We encourage you to take this brief survey so that we may use the data to make informed decisions about the safety, culture, and climate for Powell students, staff and parents. Chromebooks and assistance will be available in the Parent Center (P1) Jan. 22-29th from 8:30 am-9:00 am for parents to complete the survey. Each parent that completes the survey will receive a raffle ticket for a drawing on Jan. 30th and a free dress wristband for students whose parent/guardian completes the survey.
SCHOOL SAFETY REMINDERS
- PLEASE drop off & pick up students in the designated areas. DO NOT have students crossing the street by jay-walking. It is VERY DANGEROUS for students to get dropped off or picked up in the middle of the street.
- STUDENTS NEED TO BE PICKED UP AFTER SCHOOL. If they are not in WRAP, or a school sponsored activity, they must be picked up at the end of the school day. They can not be on campus outside of school hours unattended.
- DRIVE SLOW through the drop off/pick up zone, children are walking.
- DO NOT park in handicap parking spots or double park.
- Drive to the end of the drop off/pick up zone, DO NOT stop at the mouth of the driveway.
- No early student pick up after 2:45.
- You need identification when visiting campus.
- We have a CLOSED CAMPUS during lunch from 12:00-1:00.
