Assistant Principals' Corner

Officer Hill has done a phenomenal job completing well checks on families that we have been unable to contact. Ashley is communicating the outcomes of these visits to individual teachers as needed. No students will be withdrawn at this time, even if we discover the family has moved. The student will continue to have access to Park Street's digital resources.

Resource from Ms. Renshaw

Good Morning! I wanted to share that MyON is back for students. I will be putting this under student and teacher resources on my media page (Schoology was down a minute ago). Wasn’t sure if you also wanted to share in the daily memo. A new feature is the capability to search by Guided Reading, Lexile and ATOS.

Zoom Security Update

Below is a message from Zoom regarding security. I know this came up today in several PLCs.

"We are committed to helping teachers and students around the globe successfully connect. Based on the feedback we’ve received from our education community, we’d like to share an upcoming improvement to your account to enhance the control that you have over your virtual classroom."

Message from Ms. Kern

I have sent this to a few teachers that parents first stated they don't need internet but now they are saying they need it. I am letting them know that I have updated the students needs but they could mention to the families that Xfinity is offering 2 free months of internet through the Internet Essentials program. I have attached the link below.

Internet Essentials Application

If you think this is incorrect, please call our call center at 1-855-846-8376.. Please recheck your Application number and try again. Phone number provided is not valid.

FYI-It is an option for parents but they should request the equipment shipped and ask for installation. It is free installation and the stores are out of stock.

We, MCS, are not endorsing Xfinity but it is a suggestion we could give to parents just in case we run out of hotspots and it is first come first serve.

STEM Challenge with Breaux & Associates (architect for our new school)

Feel free to share with parents and post on your pages.

Breaux & Associates Architects is sponsoring an Architectural STEM Challenge on social media for elementary school students. The elementary school with the most posts of completed activities will win a new 3-D printer from BXA. If interested, please circulate the information below and attached to your elementary school principals. The actual activities will be posted on social media and our website,

Attached is an introduction letter to teachers for our STEM Challenge.

Activity no. 1 can be found on our Instagram or Facebook posts or at our website - Twitter directs you to our website also.

We have quite a few activities lined up – we’ll issue about 2 a week.

Elementary schools will earn a point for each post containing a photo of a completed activity and #BuildWithBreaux – Be sure to tell your teachers to identify their school when they post so we know who to award points to!!

Classroom layout in the new school

Many of you have asked me what the furniture and classroom layout will be like in the new building. Below are pictures of the sample layout for the K-1 and 2-5 classrooms. (The picture says 3-5, but it is 2-5)
