Wishing you all a safe and fun summer break!
Último Día de Clases 16 de junio
A Letter From Principal Mills
Dear Bridgeport Families,
Thank you
As this school year comes to an end, I just want to thank you once more for your incredible communication and flexibility during this very unusual school year! We jumped over quite a few hurdles together and I am so grateful for all that you’ve done to support our students and our school. I would like to send a special thank you to our PTO board and all those who contributed to their work this year, including our amazing events, like the carnival, fundraisers, staff appreciation efforts, and all of the other services provided to our students. Thank you for all of the obstacles you overcame this year, always putting kids at the center of your planning!
Attendance
Moving into next school year, I am looking forward to improved consistency and attendance for our students. Students who are coming to school regularly and on time have been showing amazing academic and social emotional growth! We have some exciting plans in mind to support consistent, on-time attendance and are looking forward to sharing those to kick off next year!
Farewells
Next year will also bring about a few changes in our licensed staff members:
Cristina Raos, fourth grade TWI teacher, will be moving to teach TWI classes at Tigard High School! Alma Islas Morales will move from second grade to fourth grade and Jennifer Arroyo, former Bridgeport reading instructor, has been hired to teach second grade.
Hannah Connell, fifth grade teacher, will be pursuing new opportunities next year. Kelsey Towle who is currently serving as our learning specialist will move into the fifth grade position. We have hired another learning specialist, Emma Nihill, to take her place.
Jessica Ramirez, third grade TWI teacher, will serve our school as an instructional coach next year. Naivit Velzquez Sereno will move to third grade, as a result. For the first grade position, we have hired Gabriela Hernandez.
Emily Nilsen, fifth grade TWI teacher, has accepted a position as a district wide Social Emotional Learning coach. In her place we have hired an experienced teacher from Salem-Keizer, Judy Marquez.
Congratulations to all of our staff members who are moving into exciting, new positions for the upcoming school year, and please join me in welcoming our new staff members to our bulldog family!
Day of School for Fifth Grade
This year our school will host a “clap out” for our fifth grade students on the last day of school. Students in kindergarten through fourth grade will line the halls to cheer for fifth graders as they wind their way through the inside of the school. Fifth graders will also take a lap around the track for families that would like to come and cheer them on.
Families arrive at 10:45 AM on Thursday, 6/16. Do not come inside the school. Line the inside of the track.
Fifth graders parade around the track but will not be released to families from there.
Regular dismissal procedures will be followed at 11:15. Please contact our office ahead of time if your student will be going home differently than they typically do.
Wishing you all a fantastic last week of school and a fun, relaxing summer! Sincerely, Jordan Mills Principal
We would like to wish our 5th Graders the best of luck in middle school!
Does Your Student Have Medicines Checked Into The Health Room?
If your student has medications checked into the health room, they will need to be claimed by June 16. We will NOT be able to send medications home with students. Parents will need to sign them out.
Any medications that are left will be disposed of at the end of the week.
