Information on staying and being healthy:
Individual level Practice social distancing when ill. Parents should keep children home who exhibit cold and flu-like symptoms. Staff are encouraged to stay home from work if they have cold and flu-like symptoms. When you are calling your student in ill, please remember to give their symptoms so we can track what is happening within our building Student should be home for 24 hours, fever free without the use of fever reducing medicince. Hand-washing All students should keep unwashed hands out of their mouths, eyes, etc. Encourage all students to use anti-bacterial soap. Classroom/School level We will be reviewing hand-washing techniques. Discourage the sharing of food. We continue to disinfect the school as much as possible. System/District level Provide clear and transparent communication to your communities especially around any suspected or confirmed cases. We have a process for determining whether students are contracting the virus and a system for reporting updates to health officials.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns you have about your child or school.

Notes from the Office
Don't forget to "Spring Ahead" this weekend.
All Arts Day: On April 17th, 2020 we will once again be presenting the All Arts Day program where parent and community volunteers share their artistic talents with our students. It is a chance for students to see that art is all around them in a variety of forms. But to make it work, we need your help. Could you teach a small group of students how to take a good photograph? Scrapbook? Tie a fishing lure? Decorate a cake? Dance a polka? Make play-dough? The possibilities are endless, but we need about 25 volunteers to make the day work. Interested in being a presenter? Please contact the office (826-5819) for more information or to volunteer. Thanks.
Open Enrollment: This year’s Open Enrollment application period will take place between February 4th and April 30th. The Wisconsin Open Enrollment program allows children to attend a public school in a school district other than the one in which they live. Early and late applications will not be accepted. Parents may apply online at https://dpi.wi.gov/oe If you do not have access to a computer, call or stop in at the district office.
If your child is currently attending under Open Enrollment, it is not necessary to complete an application form; your child will remain an active student through 12th grade.
School Dress Up Days:
March 13: Panther Day
March 20: Beach Day
March 27: Past Decades Day

Youth ART Month!
The Oconto Falls School District is proud to present the artistic achievements of over 400 students from Kindergarten through 12th grade in the YAM art exhibit at the Oconto Falls Public Library for the month of March. A special reception for all artists and their families will be Thursday, March 5th, from 6-7 PM. Be inspired by viewing chocolate cakes, pastel animals, clay figures & animal sculptures, acrylic paintings, photography, and so much more!!
The YAM exhibit consists of quality artwork that is created using a Discipline Based Education. The four foundational art disciplines taught in art classes include art production, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics. By having all these disciplines introduced, students develop critical thinking skills, awareness of cultural and historical influences, communication skills, and explore career opportunities. In this type of curriculum, art is considered a basic subject in general education, one that is meaningful and should be available to all grade levels and for all students.
Special appreciation is extended to our staff, families, and community who support art education and encourage our children to develop these essential life skills. Also a special thank you to our public library for hosting the YAM exhibit. The following art staff educate and inspire the students in the Oconto Falls School District: Kelly Kokko-Ludemann, Karen Knoerzer, Megan Pierquet and Stephen Nagy.
